Hartnett quitting AAABA position Led local league for parts of five decades
After serving 30 seasons as director of the local AAABA League during parts of five different decades, Dr. Robert Hartnett plans to step down due to health reasons.
Hartnett, 77, said he’s had three major surgeries in the past year.
“I’m not going to continue on as director of the league,” Hartnett said during a Saturday telephone interview. “I recently had quadruple by-pass surgery. I’ve been doing this almost half of my life, and I’ve enjoyed it. It’s been a fun ride. We’ve had our good days, and we’ve had days that were not so good, but the good days outnumbered the not-so-good days.” -
Renegades bring Beiter back into AAABA League
Len Beiter appreciates the opportunity to manage again in the AAABA League with the Berkley Hills Renegades.
Beiter has held managerial roles on six different teams in the local league since 1989 and has a reputation as an effective recruiter. He had been out of the league since a 20-win season and playoff berth with the former NORAC Lab franchise in 2006. -
