LeGars couple note 70th

JOHNSTOWN — Mr. and Mrs. Henry L. LeGars of Northern Cambria have noted their 70th wedding anniversary with a dinner reception hosted by their

children at the Slovak Club Social Hall in Northern Cambria.

Mr. LeGars and the former Margaret Phillips were married June 2, 1941, in Winchester, Va.

Mr. LeGars was born April 17, 1919, in Byrnesville, Cambria County, son of the late Daniel and Minnie LeGars.

Mrs. LeGars was born July 23, 1921, daughter of the late Metro and Mary Phillips.

Mr. LeGars was the owner of LeGars Construction and retired in 1982. He continues to enjoy woodworking and gardening.

Mrs. LeGars enjoys cooking, baking and flower gardening.

They are members of St. Johns United Methodist Church in Northern Cambria.

The LeGars’ are the parents of four children: Henry R., and wife, Arlene, Northern Cambria; William, and wife, Betsy, Seven Lakes, N.C.; Barry, and wife, Dawn, Hastings; and Carol, Northern Cambria.

There are 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one stepgreat-grandchild. The 11th great-grandchild is due in May.

  • 219 Southbound closed due to traffic accident

    Due to a traffic accident, Cambria Township emergency officials report that Route 219 southbound lanes are congested just south of Ebensburg. Two people were transported from the scene. Southbound drivers looking to avoid the traffic stop should exit 219 at Route 22.

    According to officials, 219 southbound lanes should be clear soon.
