Ryans mark golden date

JOHNSTOWN — Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Ryan of Johnstown have marked their 50th wedding anniversary with a private family celebration at their home.

Mr. Ryan and the former Eileen Ribblett were married Dec. 31, 1961, at Otterbein E.U.B. Church, Greensburg, by the Rev. Edward Wilson.

They have resided in Roxbury since 1965.

Mr. Ryan, a 1949 graduate of Johnstown High School, retired in 1992 after 42 years’ service from the Gautier Division of Bethlehem Steel Corp.

He is an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and is presently commander of the Korean Service Veterans Association, Post 1, Johnstown.

Mrs. Ryan, a 1957 graduate of Johnstown High School, recently retired from Medquist, where she worked as a medical transcriptionist.

The Ryans are the parents of three children: Timothy Ryan, Oakland, Calif.; John Ryan, married to the former Vicki Reininger, Johnstown; and Meg Ryan, wife of Charles Heery, Jersey City, N.J.

There are two grandchildren, Heather, a graduate student at Duquesne University, and Zachary, a sophomore at Penn State.

  • 219 Southbound closed due to traffic accident

    Due to a traffic accident, Cambria Township emergency officials report that Route 219 southbound lanes are congested just south of Ebensburg. Two people were transported from the scene. Southbound drivers looking to avoid the traffic stop should exit 219 at Route 22.

    According to officials, 219 southbound lanes should be clear soon.
