Uptown Somerset will take on a “Tropical Paradise” atmosphere today through Sunday during the 18th annual Fire & Ice Festival. Employees of Mastro Gourmet Quality Ice of Pittsburgh will carve sculptures. The three-day event will feature live music, hot food, a children’s center and a fireworks display at 6 p.m. Saturday. At last year’s festivities, Kevin Heist of Pittsburgh used an electric chain saw to carve a snowflake sculpture.
