The National Weather Service at 1:24 p.m. issued a flood advisory for an area that includes southwestern Cambria County, northern Somerset County and all of Bedford County. The advisory continues until 4:15 p.m.
Streams and creeks may be elevated and rise out of their banks. Property damage will be minimal, but inconveniences can be expected, the Weather Service said, reminding motorists to drive with care and avoid flooded roadways.
Earlier, the Weather service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of Bedford and Blair counties. Radar showed a storm near Martinsburg, moving southeast at 15 miles an hour. The storm is capable of prodicing hail and winds in excess of 60 miles an hour, the Weather service reports. The warnings continue until 2:15 p.m.
Meanwhile a severe thunderstorm watch issued at 12:45 p.m. remains in effect until 9 p.m. today for all of Cambria, Somerset and surrounding counties.
