SOMERSET —
A Johnstown man was jailed after he allegedly led state troopers on a high speed chase, wrecked his motorcycle, got back on and then wrecked again this morning in Somerset County.
It was not until he wrecked a second time that he surrendered, troopers said
In a court document, state troopers in Somerset said they clocked Matthew Jon Goda, 25, traveling 110 mph on Route 219 southbound near Route 31 at 8 a.m.
Troopers said they tried to stop Goda, but he drove off.
Goda continued south on Route 219, turned right onto Berlin Plank Road without stoping at the stop sign, troopers said. He then made a U turn on Berlin Plank Road and drove onto the Route 219 on ramp heading north, troopers said.
Three state police cruisers pursued Goda for more than 10 miles topping speeds of 100 mph when he wrecked his bike, got back up and drove off, troopers said.
One cruiser struck the rear tire of the motorcycle causing it to hit another cruiser and crash a second time in Quemahoning Township, troopers said.
Goda, of the 1300 block of Frances Street in Johnstown, was charged with fleeing or attempting to elude police, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and a slew of traffic summaries.
He was arraigned by District Judge Kenneth Johnstown of Somerset and sent to the Somerset County Jail after failing to post $15,000 bond.
