Snow, ice slick area roads

Heavy snow has slicked roads across the region, causing several traffic accidents and road restrictions.

Oakland Avenue was closed for a time this morning while emergency crews removed a van that overturned just above Ohio Street in Stonycreek Township.

A tractor-trailer crash in Jackson Township caused delays along Route 22 westbound, but township police report at least one lane has been reopened in each direction.

Meanwhile, the speed limit has been reduced to 45 miles an hour on the Pennsylvania Turnpike from the Ohio line to the Blue Mountain Tunnel.

Trucks pulling empty trailers or double trailers are banned from the turnpike between New Stanton and Breezewood.

Police are on the scene of a Route 56 East Wheatfield Township accident in which a vehicle struck a jack-knifed tractor trailer.
