Memorial Medical Center again wins Consumer Choice Award
Conemaugh Health System’s Memorial Medical Center once again has been recognized as a Consumer Choice Award winner by National Research Corp.
It is the 10th consecutive year that the medical center has earned the designation.
The award is presented to the hospital in each market that is voted on by its consumers for being the best across four key metrics; best overall quality, best doctors, best nurses and best image/reputation.
According to National Research Corp., winners are determined by a consumer perception study that surveys more than 250,000 households representing more than 450,000 consumers in the contiguous 48 states and the District of Columbia.
From those surveyed, 3,200 hospitals named by consumers are analyzed and ranked.

Lockheed earns contract from Defense Logistics Agency
Lockheed Martin’s Misson Systems and Sensors supply chain will oversee what could be a $415 million contract from the Defense Logistics Agency.
The work, which will involve managing the contract and spare part orders for a list of military branches, will keep 10 of the local Lockheed office’s workers busy into 2018, Lockheed Spokeswoman Emily Caruso said.
Through the contract itself, Lockheed manufacturers across the country and in Canada will provide Army, Navy and Air Force aircraft parts as needed, she said.
The Defense Logistics Agency said federal working capital funds are funding the work.
