Clearfield Hospital to lay off 33 workers
CLEARFIELD – Clearfield Hospital is laying off 33 workers because of budget problems.
The cutbacks affect clinical, support, administrative and management positions.
Some open positions will not be filled, and part-time hours may be reduced.
Clearfield Hospital has about 750 employees.
A spokeswoman said the hospital has been unable to close a shortfall of roughly $725,000 during the first six months of the fiscal year.
Progress Edition participants sought
The Tribune-Democrat again is reaching out to the region’s business community to participate in its annual Progress Edition.
Questionnaires are in the mail to more than 500 businesses and organizations throughout Cambria and Somerset counties.
The Tribune-Democrat asks that recipients return the completed forms by March 1.
Those organizations not receiving questionnaires by mail are still eligible and encouraged to participate.
A link to an online questionnaire will appear starting Monday at The Tribune-Democrat’s Web site, tribdem.com.
Those with questions or who are interested in obtaining a questionnaire by mail or an electronic form by e-mail should contact Shawn Piatek, business writer, by calling 532-5060 or by e-mailing spiatek@tribdem.com.
