In brief: YPA collecting Dawn to help Gulf wildlife

The Tribune-Democrat

— The Young Professionals of the Alleghenies is collecting Dawn dishwashing liquid to send to wildlife relief efforts in the Gulf.

Businesses or organizations that are interested in collecting Dawn can contact YPA at info@youngpa.org to schedule a pick-up the week of July 19. Individuals may also make a monetary donation at www.youngpa.org. YPA will use 100 percent of those proceeds to purchase the dishwashing liquid.

Dawn also provides a code on each bottle of Dawn Special Edition, Dawn Direct Foam, Dawn Refills, and Dawn 56 and 90 oz. bottles that consumers may enter on www.dawnsaveswildlife.com.

When entered, $1 from that bottle’s sale will go to wildlife conservation efforts of the Marine Mammal Center and the International Bird Rescue Research Center.

Mainline to host breast-cancer fundraiser

Mainline Physical Therapy, 794 Gallitzin Road, Cresson, will hold a fundraiser Friday to support efforts to fight breast cancer.

Members of the staff and other guests will take turns sitting in a dunk tank beginning at 10 a.m.

Hot dogs, soda and baked goods will be sold to raise additional funds.

Proceeds from the event will go toward sponsorship of a Mainline Medical employee in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure Walk in Tampa, Fla., on Oct. 29.
