Lockheed Martin has landed three contracts to support Korea’s air force and navy supply chain needs.
And a company spokeswoman says the annual $2 million contracts will be managed out of Johnstown.
Through the deal, Lockheed’s global warehouses will provide spare material and repair military hardware for the Republic of Korea’s fleet of F-16s and P-3 military aircraft. It expands services the company has provided for years with its air force’s C-130 aircraft, company officials said.
“The establishment of these contracts with the Republic of Korea highlights the confidence our customers have in our capability to maintain critical spare parts and repair of military hardware for their weapon systems,” said Janet Gohman, director, global supply chain services for Lockheed Martin’s Mission Systems & Sensors business. “We focus on delivering an effective and integrated supply chain to increase affordability and reduce turn-around-time for our customers.”
While repairs would be handled by Lockheed’s global network of suppliers, office staff from the Richland supply chain, which services the company’s Mission Systems & Sensors division, will handle the contract making sure needs are met, Lockheed spokeswoman Emily Caruso said.
About 20 employees at the approximately 80-employee facility handle such work, she added.
Lockheed has two locations in Richland. The global supply chain relocated here in 2008.
