P. Joseph Lehman Inc., Consulting Engineers, Hollidaysburg, announced the hiring of Scott A. Hammond as senior environmental project manager.
Hammond has been providing environmental solutions to public and private sector clients for nearly 20 years.
As a former employee of PennDOT, he managed a number of environmental projects. He also is a licensed asbestos building inspector.
He will provide similar services to clients at Lehman Engineers, as well as provide solutions to clients involved in the Marcellus Shale gas development industry. This will include permitting and infrastructure maintenance for gas exploration and midstream pipeline companies.
Hammond, a Hollidaysburg resident, graduated from Pitt with a bachelor’s degree in geology.
Power plant employee wins safety award
Rick Fetzer of GenOn – Seward Generating Station in New Florence, recently was recognized as a winner of the Voluntary Protection Programs Participants’ Association Inc. (VPPPA) Safety and Health Achievement Award at the 28th Annual National VPPPA Conference in Anaheim, Calif.
The VPPPA Safety and Health Achievement Program honors hourly employees at VPPPA member sites who go above and beyond their normal duties to learn safety and health techniques and best practices.
VPPPA Inc., a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, is dedicated to promoting advances in worker safety and health excellence through cooperation among communities, workers, industries and governments.
More than 2,000 VPPPA member sites primarily consist of work sites that have been approved, or are seeking approval, into the program as administered by OSHA, state-plan OSHA and the Department of Energy.

AmeriServ employee earns QKA credential
AmeriServ Financial has announced that Diana Karpen has earned the qualified 401(k) administrator (QKA) credential from the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries. The society is the premier national organization for career retirement plan professionals.
The QKA credential is offered for retirement plan professionals who assist employers with recordkeeping, non-discriminate testing and administration of 401(k) and related plans. To become certified, one must have a minimum of two years of pension-related experience and pass a rigorous series of exams.
Karpen has more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry, with eight of those years in trust services and six years of qualified plan experience.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting from St. Francis University.
