Area pair drops pounds together

PITTSBURGH — Scott Corson and Wayne Jones are using the Buddy system to lose weight.

The Pitt Panthers might be opposites – Corson is a defensive lineman from Greater Johnstown while Jones is an offensive lineman who went to Bishop McCort – but they took the same route to shedding pounds in the offseason: Working out with strength coach Buddy Morris.

Jones said Monday that he weighs about 315 pounds – down from 340 – and that he feels much better.

He credits Morris’ tough conditioning program with helping him lose the weight.

“Our offseason program is probably one of the best in college football,” Jones said.

Corson, who dropped from 315 to 270 pounds, said he feels much faster.

“Working out with Buddy, you get so much leaner,” he said. “I watch what I eat now (but) it all starts with Buddy.”
