Red Flash add two coaches

LORETTO — St. Francis added two more coaches to its athletic staff, hiring Lori Leitzinger and Henry Chuang.

Leitzinger will join head swim coach Pat Gallagher as an assistant coach.

Leitzinger, a State College native, was a 16-time All-American at Division II Clarion University. She finished sixth in the 200 backstroke at the NCAA championships last year and holds the school record in the 100 and 200 backstroke.

She will pursue a master’s in education and leadership at St. Francis.

“Lori’s extensive competitive and coaching experience will significantly help St. Francis swimming in all aspects of coaching and recruiting,” said Gallagher, who is in his sixth season with the Red Flash.

Chuang will aid men’s volleyball coach Mike Rumbaugh and women’s coach Chuck Mullen during their seasons.

He comes to Pennsylvania from Rutgers University-Newark, where he was a graduate assistant.

Chuang was the head coach of the top men’s team (Division II) at TV Beuhl in Buehl, Germany. He was also an assistant coach for the youth and junior national teams at the Olympic Training Center in Frankfurt from 2000 to 2001.

Before entering the collegiate and international ranks, Chuang was a head junior varsity coach and assistant varsity coach at numerous California high schools.

“Henry is a very welcome addition to the St. Francis volleyball family,” said Mullen, who is in his first season at the helm of the Red Flash. “His knowledge of the game and technical teaching will bolster our staff and help work towards achieving the goals that have been set.”
