READERS' FORUM 2-7 | Corruption abounds in House

When they call roll in the state House, some legislators won’t know whether to answer “here” or “not guilty.”

This has to be the most corrupt and inept governing body in the nation.

And very soon, these same people will be candidates for re-election and telling us what a good job they have done.

Why should we re-elect them?

Has anyone seen the true property-tax relief promised with the advent of gambling?

Have they done anything to help the middle class taxpayer? They couldn’t even pass a budget on time, and this cost us more than a half-million dollars in per diems.

Congratulations to Sen. John Wozniak for collecting the most per diem. As a taxpayer, I would like to see receipts, and not just be assured that all the t’s have been crossed and i’s dotted, as Wozniak said.

Special recognition should go to Sen. John Eichelberger of Blair County, who would not accept more than $14,000 in per diems, although he did accept $5,000 for hotel accommodations, for which he had receipts.

Since the state needs money so badly, perhaps we could make a movie titled “The Pirates of the Susquehanna.” There would be no sex scenes, but it would be rated “R” for greed and corruption.

Several people have written in this forum criticizing the size and cost of the state Legislature. I have not seen one word in rebuttal. Perhaps there is no defense.

This is why we need a constitutional convention, for which you can request by signing a petition at democracyrisingpa.com.
