Readers' Forum 1-28 | Power-mad government the real enemy

JOHNSTOWN — To historically challenged casualties of modern education, I explain: The Second Amendment to the Constitution states: “A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”

What is a militia? George Mason, considered a “father of the United States’ Bill of Rights” said, “I ask, sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people except for a few public officials.”

One reason Americans were successful in the fight for independence over the redcoats was their superiorly accurate, handcrafted Kentucky rifles compared to the less-effective smoothbore British muskets.

Gun-grabbing progressives argue that ordinary citizens have no business owning so-called “assault weapons,” but as one applies the context in which the Second Amendment was written, to maintain freedom from tyrannical government, the citizenry must be armed at least equally and preferably superior to the government forces sent to suppress their freedom.

Our government, and this administration in particular, is obsessed with power and arrogantly tramples the Constitution that they have sworn to uphold.

They fear an armed populace, so they’ll use any tragedy to disarm us, even though their actions cannot prevent these tragedies. Using class warfare successfully subverts unity among the people, but when Marxism has won, we’ll all be peasant-class subjects.

Our only hope is for all Americans to join in resisting the real enemy: Tyrannical, power-mad government.

America no longer ‘united we stand’

While looking at a coin of our American currency, my attention was drawn to the inscription, “E Pluribus Unum,” “United we stand.”

Lately, our country is not one of unison; we are a country divided. So very pitiful are we.

The president is looked down upon in every aspect. It seems Congress constantly calls the shots here.

The president wants to do for the middle class and poor. There are always restrictions from Congress.

Also, the corporate-world “fat cats” who have sent industries to China and other foreign countries for cheaper labor don’t give a darn for their fellow Americans.

American craftsmanship no longer exists. Our department and hardware stores mostly carry products made in China. These materials, by majority, are cheaply made and of poor quality, but not cheaply priced.

If we keep going this way, our official language will possibly change – and it won’t be Spanish. Get ready to learn how to read and write in Chinese because this is where America is headed.

American English will also become extinct. Maybe we as Americans need a real wake-up call.

We need to re-unite before it’s too late.

Please, wake up, America.

Self-control makes birth control pointless

Recent articles have appeared on the topics of so-called gay rights (“Same-sex military couples struggle for recognition,” Jan. 20) and so-called abortion rights (“Examining Roe v. Wade: 40 years later,” Jan 21), presenting them as if they were settled issues.

While the pendulum seems to have swung in their favor, they are not foregone conclusions. Many Americans oppose such behavior. I have a problem calling something a right when, in effect, the thing in question is a behavior. Whereas some may claim to have homosexual inclinations, those inclinations do not give them a right to act on them.

If that were so, would it mean that a person who has pyromaniac inclinations has a right to set fires? Would a person with homicidal inclinations have a right to kill?

Possessing the inclination, that is, wanting to do something, does not thereby grant the right to do it. What Roe v. Wade upheld was the right to privacy, which was spun to mean a so-called right to abortion.

A woman’s right to control her body objectively and morally ends where her unborn child’s rights begin – beginning with his or her right to life. The first right one has over his or her body is self-control, which makes birth control unnecessary and undignified.

Cashless society and mark of beast

I’m sure thousands of years ago, people could have never conceived of things such as electricity, light bulbs and all kinds of electric appliances, or in their wildest dreams, computers, bar codes and microchips. This, however, is what was prophesied in the Bible.

The use of debit and cash cards continues to increase. Now, the Social Security Administration will not send checks. It will deal with direct deposit or cash cards only. We are moving toward a worldwide cashless society, with all-electronic transactions. This will make sense in order to control illegal cash transactions for drugs, weapons, etc.

However, they soon will discover that these cards can be lost or stolen. The solution will be to place something like a microchip or bar code on or in your body. Enter what the Bible calls the beast (Antichrist) who receives his power from the dragon (Satan). Read Revelation 13:1-15 for more.

“He also forced everyone, small and great, rich or poor, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name. This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man’s number. His number is 666.”

Do not accept this mark. If you do, you are rejecting Christ and forfeiting your eternal soul to Satan. You may not believe this now, but, remember, these things will happen.
