“What You See Is What You Get,” a photography exhibit by Clyde Williams Sr. of Johnstown, will be on display Saturday through Feb. 28 at the Bottle Works Ethnic Arts Center, 411 Third Ave. in the Cambria City section of Johnstown.
An opening reception will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday.
The exhibit will include nature, wildlife and wedding photographs as well as photos of President Obama and former President Clinton and his daughter, Chelsea, when they visited Johnstown.
In addition to Williams’ photographs, photographer John Toth will have a display of cameras he has collected, featuring models from 1928 to 1974.
The exhibit is part of the celebration of Black History Month.

Spirited dance
River North Chicago Dance Company will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Pasquerilla Performing Arts Center, Richland Township.
The performance of the jazz-based contemporary company will blend skilled and emotional dancers, stimulating music and bold choreography.

Focus on hunger
“Witnesses to Hunger,” an exhibit featuring the photography of Pennsylvania mothers who have experienced poverty and are working to create better lives for their children, will be on display Saturday through Feb. 24 at the Community Arts Center of Cambria County, 1217 Menoher Blvd., Westmont.
The traveling exhibit is presented by the Philadelphia GROW Project and Drexel University School of Public Health.
It will feature the photographs of three Johnstown sisters, Sarina Hardison, Aletha Triplin and Artrese Taylor.
A hunger forum will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, with an opening reception for the exhibit from 3 to 5.
Viewing hours will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays.

Great outdoors
The Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show will be held Saturday through Feb. 14 at the Farm Show Complex, 2300 N. Cameron St., Harrisburg.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays.
The 55th anniversary of the largest consumer event of its kind in North America attracts outdoor sports enthusiasts from Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Delaware, New Jersey, New York and Washington, D.C.
Outdoors fans can view hunting and fishing products, plan outdoor sport and camping vacations and shop for fishing boats, RVs, SUVs, motorcycles and ATVs.
Advance tickets for one day are $12 for adults, $10 for senior citizens and $5 for children ages 6-12.
Two-day tickets are $23 each, and three-day tickets are $31.50 each.

Charity in bloom
Today is the last day to reserve tickets for the Red Rose Charity Ball, which will be held on Feb. 13 at Solomon Run Banquet Facility, 146 Mount Airy Drive, Richland Township.
Proceeds will benefit Windber Area Community Kitchen, which provides a free meal to those in need once a month at Windber Calvary United Methodist Church, 1800 Stockholm Ave.
The evening will begin with cocktails at 6, followed by dinner at 6:30. There will be dancing from 7:30 to 10:30.

Arts benefit
“Dawning,” a fundraiser to benefit the Venue for Merging Arts, will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday at Ace’s, 316 Chestnut St. in the Cambria City section of Johnstown.
Jazz music will be provided by The Little Big Band with Bob Bretz and special guest, Pittsburgh’s Don Aliquo Quartet.
There will be a silent art auction featuring artwork from local and regional artists and a basket raffle featuring items donated by local merchants.
There also will be a cash bar, door prizes and complimentary hors d’oeuvres.

Pups and pucks
When the Johnstown Chiefs face off against the South Carolina Sting Rays at 7:05 p.m. Saturday at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena, 326 Napoleon St., Johnstown, dog owners and their pets will have the best seats in the house.
Seats will be available in a special canine section for $10, and dogs will be seated free.
The promotion is through Bottle Works Ethnic Arts Center, and a collection of Morley’s Dogs also will be on display, with information on how to have one made.

Brown(ing) bag lunch
A Lunch a l’Art program to celebrate the exhibition “Colleen Browning: Realist-Illusionist” will be held at 12:30 p.m. Feb. 12 at Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at Johnstown, Pasquerilla Performing Arts Center, Richland Township.
Reservations are requested by Wednesday.
The program includes lunch, an exhibition tour and discussion with SAMA-Johnstown coordinator Tina Lehman.
Lunch a l’Art programs are offered to encourage a greater understanding of various art forms as well as a deeper appreciation for the exhibitions presented by the museum.

Somerset art
Somerset County Artists Association will have a members-only show on display through Feb. 12 at Philip Dressler Center for the Arts, 214 S. Harrison Ave., Somerset.
There is no theme to the exhibit, which features a variety of subjects and artistic media.
The artists’ association has more than 100 members and was organized in the 1950s. It became an affiliate of Laurel Arts in 1978.
Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays and noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays.

Merging of ideas
“Colleen Browning: Realist – Illusionist” will be on display through March 19 at Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at Johnstown, Pasquerilla Performing Arts Center, Richland Township.
Reality and illusion merge in the internationally acclaimed artist’s work, which includes realism, portraiture, abstract, a self-portrait, landscape and cityscape.
Browning’s medium is primarily oil painting.
The show features 30 of almost 100 of Browning’s works stored at the museum’s permanent collection in Loretto.
Museum hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and one hour before arts center performances.

Artistic variety
Several exhibitions are on display at Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at Loretto on the campus of St. Francis University.
“Shirley Goldfarb: The Later Years” will be on display through Feb. 20.
Goldfarb worked in abstract expressionism, then developed her own unmatched style.
Her earlier works will be on display through Feb. 13 at Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at Altoona.
“Robert E. Peary: Accomplished Arctic Explorer” will be on display in the rear Zamias Gallery through March 6.
The exhibit features 13 prints generated from black-and-white photographs and hand-tinted glass lantern slides chronicling the Cresson native’s travels.
“Twentieth Century Prints: Gifts of Allwyn and Ellen Levine” will be on display in the upstairs Margery Wolf-Kuhn Gallery through June 5.
The exhibit includes works by artists such as Jim Dine, Larry Rivers, Philip Pearlstein, Red Grooms, Alex Katz, Nancy Graves and Will Barnet.
Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 1 to 5 p.m. Saturdays.

Pennsylvania art
The Southwestern Pennsylvania Council for the Arts’ 14th annual regional juried art exhibition will be on display through Feb. 13 at Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at Ligonier Valley, One Boucher Lane and Route 711 South, Ligonier.
The exhibition features 75 works from 75 individual artists from the 19 southwestern counties of Pennsylvania.
Featured work will span a variety of media, including oil, acrylic, watercolor, collage, pastel, sculpture and photography.

Dinner and a laugh
Bedford County Players will perform Jack Sharkey’s comedy “I Take This Man” as a dinner theater Feb. 12 and 13, 19 and 20 and 26 and 27 at the Carriage House of Bedford.

A Valentine Tea for ages 3 to 12 will be held from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Feb. 13 in the Marcia Ponas Doll Museum at the Community Arts Center of Cambria County, 1217 Menoher Blvd., Westmont.
The party, which is open to girls and boys, will feature kid-friendly teas, lemonade, cookies, heart-shaped sandwiches, veggies and a berry parfait dessert.
Teapots will feature popular make-believe characters such as Peter Pan, Snow White and Mickey and Minnie Mouse, and guests are being asked to bring their own teacup in keeping with a Victorian tradition.
There will be games and crafts before the party.

A Valentine’s Day Party to benefit Windber Hospice will be held at 7 p.m. Feb. 13 at Buford’s Saloon, Jerome.
Entertainment will be provided by New Edge DJ from 8 p.m. to midnight.

There will be a cash bar, and those who attend must be 21.

Churches concert
“Celebrating Cambria City!” will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Feb. 14 at the former Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 308 Broad St. in the Cambria City section of Johnstown.
Save Our Steeples and Bottle Works Ethnic Arts Center are presenting the performing arts event to raise awareness of the possibilities of reusing the closed Cambria City churches and to raise funds to purchase a study to detail the possibilities.
The deadline for contributions is today.
Entertainers will be Johnstown Concert Ballet; Tim Dabbs and Sam Coco of Song Works; vocalist Adia Dobbins; organist Bryan Lohr; and Rachel Allen and Johnny.
A reception to meet the entertainers will be held after the performance at the arts center at 411 Third Ave.

Love feast
“A Celebration of Love” will be presented from 2:30 to 5 p.m. Feb. 14 at Dillweed Bed & Breakfast, Route 403, Dilltown.
The event will begin with an hour of sampling gourmet coffees, teas and desserts, followed by a presentation by the Parlor Players.
Actors Eric Shawley and Kyra Kozielec-Gilmore, both of Johnstown, will interpret classic literature and love letters from William Shakespeare, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Robert Frost, William Butler Yeats and Edna St. Vincent Millay.
Singer songwriter Jackie Kopco will perform original music as well as favorite love songs throughout the show.

Scene of the crime
“CSI: Live,” a kid-friendly version of the popular CBS television show, will be fighting crime at 10 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. Feb. 20 at Pasquerilla Performing Arts Center, Richland Township.
Actors will portray crime-scene investigators while young members from the audience come onstage as CSI recruits and witnesses and suspects to the crime.
This version of CSI is less graphic, with the victim simply being injured.
