The Harlem Globetrotters 2012 World Tour will be ready for basketball action at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena, 326 Napoleon St., Johnstown.
This year’s rookie class includes Paul “Tiny” Sturgess, the tallest Globetrotter in team history at 7 feet 8 inches; Jonte “Too Tall” Hall, the shortest player at 5 feet 2 inches; and Fatima “TNT” Maddox, the team’s first female player since 1993 and ninth female in team history.

A Rock Out to Knock Out Cancer fundraiser will be held from 5 to 11 p.m. Saturday at Solomon Run fire hall, 176 Mount Airy Drive, Richland Township.
Proceeds from the five-band show will benefit the American Cancer Society.
Bands are The August Response, Saving Elizabeth, One Pump Chump, Allegory and Hot Mess.

Friday fest
Last Friday will feature local musician Jeff Perigo today at the Ethnic Social Club, on the fourth floor of Heritage Discovery Center, 201 Sixth Ave. in the Cambria City section of Johnstown.
Perigo has been playing acoustic, electric, classic rock, folk, blues, country and jam band music since 1994 in the Johnstown, Indiana and Somerset areas.

Gospel fundraiser
“Breathing for Dean,” a fundraiser for pulmonary fibrosis, will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at Arbutus Church of the Brethren, Erickson Drive and Hostetler Road, Richland Township.
Dean Schell’s widow, Jerrie, and stepdaughter, Candie Rievel, will perform a concert of southern gospel songs, and there will be a hymn sing.
The concert is free to the public, and donations will be collected for the Coalition for Pulmonary Fibrosis, the organization that does research to find a cure.

Seasonal snapshots

Old-fashioned photos

Prints and posters
Two exhibits are open at Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at Altoona, 1210 11th Ave.
“Twentieth Century Prints: Gifts of Allwyn and Ellen Levine” is on display through April 21 in the museum’s George A. and Herbert L. Wolf Gallery.
The exhibition features 45 prints by 20th century printmakers such as Will Barnet, Leonard Baskin, Jim Dine, Jane Freilicher, Nancy Graves, Peter Milton, Philip Pearlstein and Fairfield Porter.
“What a Long, Strange Trip It’s Been: Selections from the Mark del Costello Poster Collection” is on display through April 28 in the museum’s Shirley and Fred A. Pechter Gallery and Paul I. Detwiler Education Center.
The exhibition features more than 60 posters of rock ’n’ roll legends such as The Beatles, the Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie and the Sex Pistols.
It also includes poster art by Stanley Mouse, Alton Kelley, Peter Max, Milton Glaser, Victor Moscoso and Tadanori Yokoo.

Country stars
Award-winning country group Lady Antebellum will bring its “Own the Night 2012 World Tour” to the region at 7 p.m. Feb. 4 at Bryce Jordan Center on the Penn State campus.
The concert also will feature Darius Rucker and special guest Thompson Square.
Rucker topped the charts with the release of his sophomore country album, “Charleston, SC 1966.”
The husband-and-wife team of Thompson Square is one of country music’s biggest breakout acts of 2011.
The duo’s single, “Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not,” reached the No. 1 spot on country radio charts.

IUP itinerary
Events at Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex on the campus of Indiana University of Pennsylvania will include a country concert, arenacross racing and a circus party.
Country star Eric Church’s “Blood, Sweat & Beers Tour,” slated to arrive March 3, is almost sold out.
Tickets remaining for the VIP package are $199.
The Bad Boys of Arenacross Pro National will race March 16-18 for the national championships.
Performance times are 7:30 p.m. March 16 and 17 and 2 p.m. March 18.
The complex will be molded into a super cross-style track with huge jumps sending riders flying 70 to 80 feet through the air.
The world’s best Arenacross riders will compete, including 2011’s second-place finisher, Steve Roman from Apollo, Armstrong County.
Tickets are $17 and $20 for adults, and youth tickets are $7 and $10.
Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Presents Barnum Bash will clown around April 12-15.
