Rockin’ benefit

“Peter Pan” will be presented at 7 tonight and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at Windber Area High School auditorium, 3201 Graham Ave., Windber.
In this James Barrie version of the musical about a boy who refused to grow up, Peter Pan brings three children to Never Land with the help of the fairy Tinkerbell.

Dance party
The second annual “Dancing Like a Star for Autism” will be held beginning at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Pasquerilla Conference Center, 301 Napoleon St., downtown Johnstown.
Funds raised will aid autism programs at Beginnings Inc. and Alternative Community Resource Program.
The fundraiser will begin with hors d’oeuvres at 5:30 and dinner at 6, then couples will compete for trophies in two categories.
A panel of judges will award the top spot, and the audience can designate a fan favorite for $1 a vote.

Ballet benefit
A Johnstown Concert Ballet fundraiser will be held from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday at Sunnehanna Country Club, 1000 Sunnehanna Drive, Westmont.
There will be a cocktail hour, dinner, silent and live auctions, music by Flood City Brass and a performance by the ballet’s senior company.
The ballet company is seeking funds for a permanent storage site for its sets and costumes.

A winter festival will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Johnstown Children’s Museum at Heritage Discovery Center, 201 Sixth Ave. in the Cambria City section of Johnstown.
After registration at 1, ongoing activities will include penguin crafts, puppet shows, magic shows, penguin bowling, let-it-snow craft and winter beanbag toss.

Beat goes on
A drum circle will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Bottle Works Ethnic Arts Center, 411 Third Ave. in the Cambria City section of Johnstown.
Those interested in joining the circle do not need experience in music to participate.

Art trip
A lunch a l’art program will be held at noon Thursday at Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at Altoona, 1210 11th Ave.

There will be a presentation by Scott Dimond, SAMA curator for visual arts.

Country stars
Award-winning country group Lady Antebellum will bring its “Own the Night 2012 World Tour” to the region at 7 p.m. Saturday at Bryce Jordan Center on the Penn State campus.
The band’s third CD, “Own the Night,” debuted at the No. 1 position on Billboard’s Top 200 chart.
Their latest awards include group artist of the year at the 2011 American Country Awards and favorite country band, duo or group at the 2011 American Music Awards.
The concert also will feature Darius Rucker and special guest Thompson Square.
Rucker topped the charts with the release of his sophomore country album, “Charleston, SC 1966.”
The husband-and-wife team of Thompson Square is one of country music’s biggest breakout acts of 2011.

Winter works
The 2012 Winter Show of Allied Artists of Johnstown is on display through Feb. 25 at AmeriServ Financial, Main and Franklin streets, downtown Johnstown.
The show has 45 works, juried by artist Julie Englemann of Indiana, Pa.
Award recipients are Jim Richey’s digital infrared photo “Farm in the Dell”; Mary Wiley-Lewis’ pastel “Shepherdess”; Donna Holdsworth’s mixed acrylic collage “In a Coat He Borrowed from James Dean”; and Larry Mallory’s watercolor “One Rusty Bucket.”
The exhibit can be viewed at no cost during regular business hours in the bank lobby.

Slovak celebration
“The Legacy of SS. Cyril and Methodius,” an exhibit of photographs by Nicholas Bocher and other aspects of Slovak heritage, is on display through Feb. 29 at the Community Arts Center of Cambria County, 1217 Menoher Blvd., Westmont.
An opening reception will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday.
At 2, Bocher will discuss his photos, and his wife, Susan Kalcik, will present a brief history of SS. Cyril & Methodius.
Three other programs will be held Feb. 12, 19 and 26.
The exhibit is being presented in conjunction with the Slovak Heritage Association of the Laurel Highlands.

Old-fashioned photos
“With Old World Eyes: European Photography from the Permanent Collection” is on display through May 12 in the Margery Wolf-Kuhn Gallery at Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at Loretto on the campus of St. Francis University.
The exhibition, which has 40 works, shows how the older photochemical methods continue to serve many uses and applications and focuses on the work of European and European-born photographers in the museum’s permanent collection.

Prints and posters
Two exhibits are on display at Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at Altoona, 1210 11th Ave.
“Twentieth Century Prints: Gifts of Allwyn and Ellen Levine” is on display through April 21 in the museum’s George A. and Herbert L. Wolf Gallery.
The exhibition features 45 prints by 20th century printmakers such as Will Barnet, Leonard Baskin, Jim Dine, Jane Freilicher, Nancy Graves, Peter Milton, Philip Pearlstein and Fairfield Porter.
The prints were donated to the museum in 2000 and 2004 by Allwyn and Ellen Levine.
“What a Long, Strange Trip It’s Been: Selections from the Mark del Costello Poster Collection” is on display through April 28 in the Shirley and Fred A. Pechter Gallery and Paul I. Detwiler Education Center.
This exhibition features more than 60 music posters of rock legends such as The Beatles, the Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie and the Sex Pistols.
The exhibition includes poster art by Stanley Mouse, Alton Kelley, Peter Max, Milton Glaser, Victor Moscoso and Tadanori Yokoo.
