Country music star Miranda Lambert will perform at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 20 at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena, 326 Napoleon St., downtown Johnstown.
Tickets will go on sale Friday to see the 2009 Academy of Country Music Top Female Vocalist nominee.

Fundraiser will benefit Richland Township boy
An autism awareness fundraiser will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Masonic Temple, 130 Valley Pike, Johnstown.
The event will help raise money to supplement the cost of an autism service dog for 8-year-old Alex Paul, son of Wayne Paul of Richland Township.
More than 50 baskets will feature items ranging from sports-related memorabilia, children’s activities and restaurant coupons.
Tickets, which are $6, include admission, a luncheon, 25 chances to win a basket and a door-prize ticket.

Teen’s senior project to benefit troops
A benefit football game will be held in support of troops overseas.
Shyla Collins, 18, daughter of Steven and D’Ona Letosky of Central City, is spearheading a charity football game between Shade Alumni and members of the Marine Corps at 2 p.m. Saturday at Shade High School football field.
Admission is $3.
Collins organized the game as her senior project.
Tickets are on sale now, and everyone who purchases one will be eligible for a drawing to win an autographed Pittsburgh Steelers jersey.

Series to spotlight UPJ faculty research
Pitt-Johnstown and the Johnstown Area Heritage Association are partnering to present a new series, “The Public Matters,” which highlights research conducted by Pitt-Johnstown faculty.
The series will open with Paul Douglas Newman, Pitt-Johnstown professor of history, who will present a documentary film, “We Never Got the Welcome Home: Western Pennsylvania Vets Remember Vietnam,” at 7 p.m. Nov. 11 at the Heritage Discovery Center, 201 Sixth Ave. in the Cambria City section of Johnstown.
Newman’s film was produced by 14 students from Northern Cambria High School.
Newman and Karen Bowman, a Northern Cambria social studies teacher, coordinated the project, which includes interviews with local veterans.
Some of the student filmmakers will be available for questions and answers.
Patty Wharton-Michael and Kristen L. Majocha, Pitt-Johnstown assistant professor of communications, are coordinating the event, which will be held twice a year.

All things afield at annual sportsmen's show
Folks who crave the great outdoors will have the chance to get a jump on their adventures by attending the 27th annual Allegheny Sport, Travel and Outdoor Show at the Monroeville Convention Center. The show, which runs from Feb. 15-19, is the only western Pennsylvania show dedicated to hunting, fishing and camping. It offers hundreds of exhibitors, dozens of live demonstrations and many seminars presented by experts in their fields of interest.
