Holiday show at Arcadia Theater will feature sounds of season

WINDBER — “Sinatra Sings Santa” featuring Steve Lippia will be presented at 8 p.m. Saturday at Arcadia Theater, 1418 Graham Ave., Windber.

In this holiday show, Lippia presents Christmas songs along with some of the most popular numbers performed by Frank Sinatra.

Along with his 16-piece band, Lippia will present Christmas favorites such as “The First Noel,” “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” “Let It Snow,” “White Christmas,” “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” “Jingle Bells” and “Christmas Waltz.”

Frank Cunsolo, Arcadia program director, said he first heard and met Lippia eight or nine years ago when the young singer was starting his career.

“My wife, Barb, and I go to Miami to showcase for the theater, and on one of our trips, we heard about a young man singing big band in Fort Lauderdale,” Cunsolo said.

“The audience was mesmerized. He had the Sinatra sound like no other impersonator I’d heard, but he’s not a Sinatra impersonator, he’s the real thing. I knew I’d like to have him appear at Arcadia.”

Lippia’s Sinatra standards will include “Come Fly With Me,” “All The Way,” “Summer Wind,” “Lady Is a Tramp,” “New York, New York,” “I’ve Got You Under My Skin” and “Luck Be a Lady.”

“He’s a singer’s singer,” Cunsolo said.

“He possesses a clear understanding of lyrics and has the talent to interpret music the way it was intended to be by the composers. He has a great stage presence and a lot of charm. He delivers in a deeply personal way.”

Lippia’s rich, baritone voice is reminiscent of a young Sinatra, Bobby Darrin or Harry Connick Jr.

When Lippia appeared at Arcadia in 2008, he was well- received.

“People loved the guy,” Cunsolo said.

“Sales have been crisp. We’re hoping to have a large crowd.”
