Children may write stories, draw pictures

Below is the beginning of a children’s story.

Readers, ages 12 and younger, can write the rest of the story in 300 words or less or draw a picture.

Send your stories or drawings by 5 p.m. March 26 to rcarthew@tribdem.com (write “kid story” in the subject line) or mail them to The Tribune-Democrat, 425 Locust St., P.O. Box 340, Johnstown, Pa. 15907-0340.

Some stories will be published in the newspaper on April 11, and others on our Web site at www.tribdem.com.

Susie and Brian were excited. Spring was finally coming!

The snow was starting to melt in the front yard and they could see the grass peeking through.

Wait, what was that shiny thing under the maple tree?

Susie got closer and saw a silver key on the ground. She picked it up and showed it to Brian.

“I wonder what this opens?” she said.
