JENNERSTOWN —
Johnstown Symphony Orchestra’s Somerset auxiliary is hosting a fundraiser that will give guests a taste of local cuisine.
“Taste of the Laurel Highlands” will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 17 in the banquet room at Green Gables Restaurant, 7712 Somerset Pike, Jennerstown.
The event is the auxiliary’s main fundraiser.
Auxiliary vice president Jane H. Sotomayor said the fundraiser will showcase samplings of a variety of foods from local restaurants.
“There will be 16 local restaurants from the Laurel Highlands,” she said.
“Each will have a table with their specialty dish.”
Two of the dishes will be Chicken Fratelli prepared by Nick Crimone of Café Fratelli’s in Somerset, and chicken wings prepared by Jan Paxon of Lamonica’s Restaurant in Boswell.
Crimone has been a chef for the past seven years at Café Fratelli’s, and was taught by chef Howard Valentine.
Paxon has been a chef at Lamonica’s Restaurant for the past eight years, and was taught by chef and owner Peg Doria.
There also will be beer, and wines from Christian W. Klay Winery of Chalk Hill, Fayette County, and Glades Pike Winery of Somerset.
Sotomayor said a silent auction will feature two original paintings and jewelry.
There also will be a cash bar, 50/50 drawing and door prizes.
Tickets: 443-2433.
