When a band such as the Rolling Stones has more than 12 million likes on Facebook, it’s understandable that a tribute show to honor the group’s talent would be appealing.
Area concertgoers will get a chance to hear the Stones’ greatest hits during “Satisfaction ... The International Rolling Stones Show” at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 21 at Arcadia Theater, 1418 Graham Ave., Windber.
“Satisfaction ... The International Rolling Stones Show,” which has been in production since 2001, showcases an authentic-sounding cast decked out in its finest Stones’ costuming.
Amy Moore, public relations director for the theater, said that while some tribute bands may tour at certain times of the year, this group travels the world year-round to deliver the best of the Stones.
The group has performed more than 1,600 performance dates to its credit.
“It’s the only full-time touring show of its kind in the world,” Moore said.
Satisfaction has entertained audiences in the Johnstown region, but Moore said people are in for a special treat with this performance.
“This group has performed locally before, but it’s important to note that the group revamped its show to coincide with the Rolling Stones’ 50th anniversary tour,” Moore said.
“It’s all new.”
The Stones’ playlist of hit records is sizable, and to narrow it down is a daunting task.
“Because this is an anniversary tour, ‘Satisfaction’ is showcasing some the biggest hits, beginning with the Ed Sullivan years of the 1960s to the band’s more current releases,” Moore said.
Fans will enjoy tunes from a hit list that features such songs as “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,” “Jumpin’ Jack Flash,” “You Can’t Always Get What You Want,” “19th Nervous Breakdown,” “Under My Thumb,” “Honky Tonk Woman,” “Wild Horses,” “Not Fade Away,” “Have You Seen Your Mother, Baby,” “Brown Sugar,” “Beast of Burden,” “Happy,” “Gimme Shelter” and “Angie.”
Moore said the group’s sound not only mimics the Rolling Stones, but members’ resemblance to original band members is uncanny.
“With many tribute bands, only the lead singer looks like the principal performer of the group,” Moore said.
“But with these performers, the resemblance to Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and supporting cast is truly remarkable.”
But the icing on the cake comes during performances.
“This highly acclaimed production showcases the most authentic cast and costuming audiences have ever seen,” Moore said.
“Their musicianship is remarkable.”
She said the performance will give area residents an opportunity to celebrate the Rolling Stones’ 50th anniversary in show business with an entertaining tribute to the legendary rockers.
“The Rolling Stones are on their anniversary tour, and tickets are going for around $400,” Moore said.
“People can come to the Arcadia and hear some of the greatest Rolling Stones’ hits for under $30.
“It’s a high-quality show at a low ticket price.”
