Music teacher is listed in Who’s Who
Carolyn Herdman-Fisher, daughter of Paul and Barb Herdman of Southmont, has been listed in the 50th edition of Who’s Who of America’s Outstanding Women.
She also is listed in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who in American Education.
Herdman-Fisher is a 1998 graduate of Westmont Hilltop High School and a 2002 graduate of Clarion University, where she received a bachelor’s degree in music education.
She is attending the University of Maryland, where she is pursuing a degree in instructional technology.
Herdman-Fisher received a kindermusik certification in 2004.
She is music teacher and choral director at Mary H. Matula Elementary School in LaPlata, Md.
Herdman-Fisher is an active clinician and adjudicator for bands and choirs in Maryland.
She has an active teaching license in Maryland and Pennsylvania.
She serves as building representative for the Education Association of Charles County, and secretary and on the board of directors of the Turkey Hill Water Co.
Herdman-Fisher is a member and active musician at St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church and a member of the Order of Eastern Star, American Federation of Musicians, EACC and National Education Association.
She also has a private music studio, where she teaches private clarinet, flute, saxophone and piano lessons.
She resides in LaPlata with her husband, Tom, and daughter, Mary.
Stoystown resident receives scholarship
Rose M. Goodwin, daughter of Dr. Michael and Nancy Nosko of Stoystown and William Goodwin of Somerset, has received a Presidential Scholarship and had been accepted under the early admittance program at Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio.
Goodwin also received a Merit Scholarship from Temple School of Podiatric Medicine.
She will graduate from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2009. She is on the dean’s list and is a provost scholar.
Goodwin was a member of Delta Epsilon Iota, Sigma Alpha Lambda and National Scholars Honor Society.
She is a 2005 graduate of Shanksville-Stonycreek High School.
Johnstown Ski Club elects officers
Annette J. Kamzik of Johnstown has been elected president of the Greater Johnstown Athletic Ski Club.
Other officers are Vicki Snoby, vice president; Susan Eget, secretary; Kevin Clark, treasurer; Annette Ballow, communications director; Cindy Cummings, financial director; Barbara Visnovsky, past president; and Paul Balint, Matt Cashdollar, Bill Mailman and Anthony Stumpo, all trustees.
