Army National Guard Pvt. Justin L. Silvis, son of Joanne Silvis of South Fork, has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.
Silvis is a 2007 graduate of Forest Hills High School, Sidman.
Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Michael B. Courtney has completed the Navy nuclear power training unit course at Naval Nuclear Power Training Command, Goose Creek, S.C.
Courtney, a 2007 graduate of Meyersdale Area High School, joined the Navy in August 2007.
Air Force Airman Julia L. Sheehan, daughter of Scott Sheehan and Victoria Balzarano, both of Johnstown, has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.
Sheehan is a 2007 graduate of Westmont Hilltop High School.
Army National Guard Pvt. David L. Rinehart, son of Linda Boyer of Wind-ber, has graduated from basic military training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
He is attending Windber Area High School.

All things afield at annual sportsmen's show
Folks who crave the great outdoors will have the chance to get a jump on their adventures by attending the 27th annual Allegheny Sport, Travel and Outdoor Show at the Monroeville Convention Center. The show, which runs from Feb. 15-19, is the only western Pennsylvania show dedicated to hunting, fishing and camping. It offers hundreds of exhibitors, dozens of live demonstrations and many seminars presented by experts in their fields of interest.
