The Polish Heritage Council will hold a Pulaski Day Mass at 4:30 p.m. today at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, Mountain Avenue, Portage.
The Polish Heritage Choir will perform Polish hymns.
Missionary will speak at Windber worship
Mission Sunday will be celebrated at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship service at Windber Calvary United Methodist Church, 1800 Stockholm Ave.
Kathy Griffith will be the guest speaker.
Griffith, a missionary with the Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church, works for the health unit of United Methodist Committee on Relief as the team’s grant manager projects in the developing world but principally in sub-Saharan Africa.
The projects focus on community-based primary health care.
From 1993 to 2008, she worked principally as a nurse in health and development projects in Central Asia.
She is the wife of Bruce Griffith of Cramer.
A covered dish dinner will follow the service.
The church also will be collecting new winter hats and gloves for Windber elementary pupils who need them. Collections will beginning Oct. 25 and will be accepted through the end of November.
Echos will conclude Arbutus camp meeting
The Echos will conclude the Arbutus Park Camp meeting with a Missionary Institute in the chapel at 2 p.m. Sunday.
The theme, “Built on a Solid Rock,” from Matthew 7, will be presented by the Rev. Randy Bain and the youth-adult mission team from Oakland United Methodist Church. He also will report on their mission trip, “Peru Earthquake Recovery – 2008.”
A time of fellowship will follow in the community room.
St. Benedict hosting Marion Celebration
The 42nd annual Family Marion Celebration – The Blessed Virgin Mary-Queen of the Apostles will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Benedict’s Roman Catholic Church, Bedford Street, Geistown.
The Most Rev. Joseph V. Adamec, bishop of the Altoona-Johnstown Diocese, will celebrate Mass at 3 p.m. Sunday.
The Rev. Deacon Robert Bailey will serve as episcopal master of ceremonies, the Rev. David Peles will serve as host and concelebrant, Deacon Thaddeus Janisko will assistant the bishop, and the Rev. Deacon John Stroka and the Rev. Deacon Samuel Cammarata will serve as deacons of the word and Eucharist, respectfully.
The Rev. Peles will lead opening prayers and Gary Beuke will be the lector.
The Rev. Paul Robine, spiritual director of the Legion of Mary Curia of Altoona-Johnstown, the Rev. Andrew Stanko, the Rev. Angelo Patti, Monsignor Thomas Mabon and the Rev. Leonard Voytek will provide a scripture verse before area children lead the rosary, under the direction of Pat and Helene Balagusz.
Rose Batzel and Ann Marie Furman will be readers.
Liturgy music will be provided by Joseph Gaunt and the combined choirs of St. Benedict, Touch of Class and St. Benedict Liturgical Ensemble with tympani provided by Ronald Horner.
The celebration is sponsored by The Altoona-Johnstown Legion of Mary Curia, All Saints Assembly, Knights of Columbus, and the Ancient Order of Hibernians-Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, Our Lady of Knock Division.
Choir will present program at church
The sanctuary choir will sponsor “The Wings of Faith” program at 4 p.m. Sunday at First Cambria A.M.E. Zion Church, 409 Haynes St. in the Kernville section of Johnstown.
Ferndale U.M. welcomes musician
Matt Price, director of worship at Oakland United Methodist Church, will present a musical concert at 6 p.m. Sunday in the downstairs social room of Ferndale United Methodist Church, 701 Vickroy Ave., Johnstown.
Price will play the guitar and piano and also sing.
He has sung professionally with the Baltimore Opera and Washington National Opera.
Light refreshments will be served and a freewill offering will be accepted.
Feast of Tabernacles at worship center
Spring Meadow Family Worship Center, Fishertown, will hold a Feast of Tabernacles, a festive celebration proclaiming another year of provision and restoration, at 6 p.m. Sunday in the Family Life Center.
The evening will include processionals with banners, flags and billows, worship, dance, drama, prophetic music and singing.

Shiloh Baptist Church schedules revival
Shiloh Baptist Church, 639 Menoher Blvd., Johnstown, will hold its three-night fall revival service at 7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday.
The Rev. Robert Scolfield from Pilgrim Church of God in Christ will speak on Tuesday.
The Rev. Charles Johnson from Stevens Memorial Holy Church will speak on Wednesday and Bishop David March will close the service on Thursday.
Emmanuel men to sing at Albright U.M.
The men’s chorus from Emmanuel Baptist Church will perform at 7 p.m. Sunday at Albright United Methodist Church, 608 Cooper Ave., Johnstown.
First U.M. Church sets time of prayer
First United Methodist Church, 436 Vine St., Johns-town, will open its doors from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Wednesday for a time of prayer and reflection, when the Rev. Dennis Zimmerman will lead a study on prayer techniques from noon to 12:30.
Christian singers at Jennerstown U.M.
The Continental Singers, a renowned Christian musical group, will perform at 6 p.m. Thursday at Jennerstown United Methodist Church.
The Mission of Hope concert is free, and door prizes will be awarded.

St. James will note golden anniversary
St. James Missionary Baptist Church’s 50th anniversary banquet will be held at 6 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Holiday Inn, 250 Market St., downtown Johnstown.
The Rev. Dr. William J. Shaw, past president of the National Baptist Convention, USA Inc., will be the speaker.
Tickets are available for $320 for a table of eight or $40 for individuals.
