Religion in brief | Congregation to note pastor's anniversary

Members of Abundant Life Ministry House of Prayer will celebrate the third pastoral anniversary of Theresa A. Jones, pastor and elder, during services at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Sunday at the Holiday Inn-Downtown, 251 Market St., Johnstown.

The morning messenger is Elder Joseph Jones.

Pastor Sabrina Hardison of Works of Deliverance Fellowship will speak in the afternoon.

Pastor announces Sunday’s sermon

“Keeping Our Mind on Christ” will be the topic of Pastor Bill Wenger’s Sunday sermon at Moxham Church of the Brethren, 536 Grove Ave., Johnstown.

The worship service begins at 10:10 a.m.

The Break will resume at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Pastor will speak on ‘A Godly Work Ethic’

Pastor Guy Myers will speak about “A Godly Work Ethic” during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship service at Maple Spring Church of the Brethren, 106 Spring Road, Hollsopple.

Suzie Moss will provide music.

Pilgrim Church of God will honor missionaries

During the 11 a.m. Sunday worship service, Pilgrim Church of God in Christ, 108 Poplar St., Johnstown, will honor missionaries Janie Smith and Neal Myers, who recently received their official licenses.

Minister returning to Friedens church

The Rev. Charles R. Mahon Jr. will return to the pulpit at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Rayman Church of the Brethren, 999 Welsh Hill Road, Friedens.

Sunday school will begin at 9:30.

Grandparents Day will be observed Sept. 12.

Anointing is available by request.

Franklin Street UM changing services

Beginning Sunday, the traditional worship service will begin at 8:45 a.m. at Franklin Street United Methodist Church, Johnstown.

The contemporary worship service will be held at 11 a.m.

Sunday school/small group classes will begin at 10 a.m.

Bolivar UM changes Sunday worship time

Worship services at Bolivar United Methodist Church have been changed to 10 a.m. Sundays.

Chickaree church plans celebration

Members of Chickaree Union Church near Mundys Corner are planning to celebrate the church’s 75th anniversary on Oct. 8-10.

Former pastors and members are invited to participate.

Berlin church plans picnic and movie

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Berlin will host a picnic and movie at 5 p.m. Sunday at Tim Rhoads’ barn, Wills Church Road, Berlin.

Pastor lists title of Sunday’s sermon

The Rev. Brian N. Simmons, pastor of Roxbury Church of the Brethren, 112 Sell St., Johnstown, will speak about “Keeping Our Mind on Christ” during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service. Children, who are advancing to fourth grade, will be recognized.

Sunday school begins at 9:30.

BCK Ministry sets worship services

Worship services have been scheduled for 9 and 10:30 a.m. Sundays at BCK Ministry & Worship Center, 1723 Scalp Ave., Johnstown.
