Musical call
Auditions for Cresson Lake Playhouse’s production of the rock musical “Next to Normal” will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the theater’s rehearsal hall, 526 W. Ogle St., Ebensburg.
Roles are available for the cast of four men and two women.
Hopefuls are asked to prepare 16 measures of a song from a contemporary rock/pop production that is appropriate for the style of the show. A cold reading will be supplied.

Hidden jewels
“Creating the Look of Today with Yesterday’s Treasurers,” an educational seminar on vintage jewelry given by Laura Argenbright, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Bottle Works Ethnic Arts Center, 411 Third Ave. in the Cambria City section of Johnstown.
The presentation is part of the first monthly Second Sunday Antique Boutique, which will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on the second Sunday of each month.
Participants are invited to bring vintage pieces of jewelry that have been inherited or acquired.
Argenbright will teach participants how vintage costume jewelry can have value as a collectible and discuss how to repurpose jewelry to create magnets, hair accessories and bedazzled handbags and notebooks.
She will provide participants with a handout listing makers’ names to watch for when looking through old jewelry.

Team action
New player registration for the Sitting Bulls Disabled Sled Hockey team will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Planet Ice, 195 Jari Drive, Richland Township.
The first practice of the season will be held at 4, and new players are welcome to attend to see disabled sled hockey played and to try it.
Trial equipment will be available for potential players.
Sled hockey is designed as a competitive sport for physically challenged youth and young adults following the same rules as USA hockey.
Players sit on specially designed sleds and use two hockey sticks to propel themselves across the ice.

Performance venue

Flood tours
“Journey Around Lake Conemaugh” van tours will be held at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. daily through Aug. 26 at Johnstown Flood National Memorial, South Fork.
The one-hour tours will begin at the visitors center and travel to the north and south abutments of the South Fork Dam, as well as the clubhouse.
Reservations are encouraged, but are not required.
The tour is included with park admission.

Site programs
Several programs will be presented at the Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site, 10 miles west of Altoona off the Gallitzin exit of Route 22.
A van tour of the Allegheny Portage Railroad will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at the park’s visitors center.
A park ranger will trace the historic route of the railroad from the canal basin in Hollidaysburg to the canal basin in Johnstown.
The three-hour tour is free, but reservations are required.
The Michael O’Brian Band will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday at the outdoor amphitheater.
Irish tunes played by the local favorites are always the highlight of the park’s summer concert series.
There is a $2 per person charge for the concert, which will be moved indoors in the event of rain.

Living history
Members of The Brigade of the American Revolution will perform a living history activities from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday and 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Fort Ligonier, routes 30 and 711 in Ligonier.
There will be drills, battle demonstrations, encampments, blacksmithing and 18th century music.
The Brigade of the American Revolution is an international historical association dedicated to recreating the lifes and times of the common soldiers of the 18th century.
Members of the brigade are located in all 13 original states plus Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Florida, California, Oregon, Canada and Great Britain.
Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for senior citizens and $5 for children ages 6–16. Children ages 5 and younger will be admitted free.

Comedy on stage
The Bedford County Players will present Lawrence Casler’s comedy, “A Night in the Theater” tonight and Saturday and Aug. 17-19 at the Harrison Township Community Center, 136 E. Pitt St., Bedford.
Tonight’s performance is a dinner theater, with dinner at 6:30 and the show at 8.
Other performances will begin at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 3 p.m. Sunday.

Urban art
“Then and Now,” an exhibit inspired by urban landscapes by New York native Susan Severson, will be on display through Sept. 29 at the Blair County Arts Foundation’s administrative office, 1212 12th Ave., Altoona.

Severson has 150 paintings in more than 90 collections throughout the United States.

Indiana Players’ production of “Policy & Procedure” will be presented at 7:30 p.m. today and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Philadelphia Street Playhouse, 725 Philadelphia St., downtown Indiana.
The comedy takes place in a future office setting, where the employees become so caught up in the Catch-22s of office procedures that it becomes almost impossible to work.
