East will come West for the first time in a new exhibition at St. Francis University in Loretto. “Stories Joyfully Embroidered: Shaanxi Folk Textiles from Northern China” will be on display from June 28 through Oct. 12 at Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at Loretto.
“Asian Fusion,” the 35th annual gala and largest fundraiser for Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at Loretto, is scheduled for July 20 on the campus of St. Francis University, Loretto.

Western-themed benefit to aid civic groups
No need to worry about putting on your best bib and tucker when the Bottle Works Ethnic Arts Center and Johnstown Symphony Orchestra’s auxiliary put on the feed bag during Howdy, Hoedown! The fundraiser, which will feature a deluxe Texas barbecue, country dancing and a chance to win a trip to Nashville, Tenn., will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. June 18 on Third Avenue in the Cambria City section of Johnstown.
