Religion in brief | IMPACT Weekend

An IMPACT weekend with the Colosinos will be held at 1 and 6 p.m. today at Believer’s Fellowship Family Church, 551 Cambria Ave., Revloc.

Pastor Sharon Colosino will speak on “The Blacksmith Anointing” at 1 p.m. and Prophet Tim Colosino will speak on “Changing the Atmosphere” at 6.

West End hymn sing

The churches of the West End will hold a hymn sing at 7 p.m. Sunday at Calvary United Methodist Church, 159 Chandler Ave., Johnstown.

Singles weekend

Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill will hold a singles weekend from Friday through March 10.

The program, for Catholic women ages 18-40, will begin at 5 p.m. Friday and conclude with Lenten vespers at 3:30 p.m. March 10.

Marriage preparation

Engaged Couples Weekend will be held March 15-17 at St. John the Baptist Retreat Center in New Baltimore.

The weekend will fulfill the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown’s marriage preparation requirement.

Preregistration is required.

Arbutus Church

Dan Rhodes, guest speaker, will present the message “40” during the 9:15 a.m. Sunday worship service at Arbutus Church of the Brethren, 1201 Erickson Drive, Johns-town.

The Johnstown area churches of the Brethren Lenten Service will begin at 6:45 p.m. The Rev. Eric Kabler will present the message “How the Cross Changes the Practice of Religion.”

Belmont UM

The Rev. Keith A. Dunn will deliver the message “Waiting for a Change” during the

8:30 and 10:45 a.m. Sunday worship services at Belmont United Methodist Church,

107 Coldren St., Johnstown.

Communion will be offered at both services.

The Rev. Jeffrey Popson will deliver the message “The Question Is ‘Why?’ ” at the

10:30 a.m. Sunday worship service at Beulah United Methodist Church, 716 Bedford St., Johnstown.

A contemporary service will begin at 8:30 a.m.

Christ UM

The Rev. Kathleen Schoeneck will speak on “Beautiful Feet”  at the 9:30 a.m. Sunday worship service at Christ United Methodist Church, Ohio Street and Cypress Avenue in the Moxham section of Johnstown.

Community church

The Rev. Charles H. Zimmerman will speak on “The Real You” at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship service at Community Open Door Church, Menoher Boulevard and Luzerne Street, Johnstown.

Singles Ministry will meet at 6:30 tonight.

Dunmyer Lutheran

Pastor Nila Cogan will conduct a worship service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Dunmyer Lutheran Church, 547 Schoolhouse Road, Johnstown.

Communion will be offered.

A Lenten service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Faith UM

The Rev. Len Findley will share the message “He Is Enough” at the 9:30 a.m. Sunday worship service at Faith United Methodist Church, 369 Glessner Road, Johnstown.

Holy Communion will be celebrated.

Ferndale UM

The Rev. Len Findley, pastor of Ferndale United Methodist Church, 701 Vickroy Ave., Johnstown, will speak on “He Is Enough” at the 10:40 a.m. Sunday worship service. Communion will be celebrated.

Youth fellowship will meet at 6 p.m. Sunday.

Lenten Bible study will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

First Lutheran

Pastor Eleanor Abarno will preach from Luke 13 during worship and Holy Communion at 5:30 tonight and 10:45 a.m. Sunday at First Lutheran Church, 415 Vine St., Johns-town.

Bible study will be held at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, 7 p.m. Tuesday and noon Thursday.

A supper will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday, followed by worship and Communion.

First Presbyterian

“Life-Giving Mercy” will be the sermon topic during the 10:45 a.m. Sunday worship

service at First Presbyterian Church, 1101 Somerset Ave., Windber.

First UM

Holy Communion will be celebrated during the 9:45 a.m. Sunday worship service at First United Methodist Church, 436 Vine St., Johnstown.

The Rev. Larry Rowe will deliver the message “Is Repentance Necessary?” 

A shared Bible study will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Franklin Street United Methodist Church.

Grace Brethren

The Rev. Rick Horner will speak on “The Hope of Heaven Is Truly Worth It” during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Grace Brethren Church, Oak and Second streets, East Conemaugh.

Grove Avenue UM

The Rev. Ed Schoeneck will deliver the message “The Highway” during Sunday services at Grove Avenue United Methodist Church, 501 Grove Ave., Johnstown.

A contemporary worship service will begin at 9 a.m.

A traditional worship service will be held at 10:45.

Holy Trinity

Worship services with Holy Communion for Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 525 Main St., Berlin, will be held at 8 and 10:40 a.m. and 4 p.m. Sunday.

The youth group will meet at 4 p.m.

A women’s Bible study will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

A Lenten service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Johnstown Fellowship

Pastor Gary L. Tustin will speak about “Passion at the Cross” during the 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship services at Greater Johnstown Christian Fellowship, 3429 Elton Road.

Prayer times will begin at 9:30 a.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. Wednesday.

A Bible study taught by Pastor Ed Berringer will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Laurel Trinity

Holy Communion will be celebrated at 8:45 and 11:15 a.m. Sunday at Laurel Trinity Lutheran Church, 7520 Somerset Pike, Jennerstown.

The Rev. William Wenger will deliver the message “A Way Out of Temptation” at the 10:10 a.m. Sunday worship service at Moxham Church of the Brethren, 536 Grove Ave., Johnstown.

Moxham Lutheran

Sunday worship will begin at 8:15 and 11 a.m. at Moxham Lutheran Church, 500 Park Ave., Johnstown.

Sunday school opening will be held in the sanctuary at 9:30 and a Lenten forum will begin at 9:45.

The weekly Lenten ecumenical service will be held at Second Presbyterian Church,

565 Park Avenue, followed by a meal.

Wednesday’s Lenten supper will begin at 5:30, followed by worship at 7:15.

Park Avenue UM

The Rev. Kathleen Schoeneck will speak on “Beautiful Feet” at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Park Avenue United Methodist Church, 700 Park Ave., Johnstown.

Roxbury church

The Rev. Brian Simmons, pastor of Roxbury Church of the Brethren, 112 Sell St.,     Johnstown, will speak on “God Is Faithful” during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service.

Sunday school will begin at 9:30.

Simmons will lead a Bible study at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Windber Calvary UM

10:30 a.m. Sunday worship service at Windber Calvary United Methodist Church, 1800 Stockholm Ave.

An innovative worship service will be held at 7 p.m.

Liturgy of Holy Communion will be celebrated during the 10:15 a.m. Sunday service

A midweek Lenten Liturgy of Holy Communion will be

celebrated at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday  and a Service of Word and Prayer will follow at 7:30.
