Forest Hills 3

Bishop Carroll 0

SIDMAN - Kayleigh Wolfhope struck out 10 and walked four in a two-hitter as Forest Hills shut out visiting Bishop Carroll on Wednesday in Laurel Highlands action.

Gab Mickus had two doubles for the Rangers (5-1) while Wolfhope had one double.

The Huskies are 4-2.

Penn Cambria 6 Cambria Heights 0

PATTON - Penn Cambria’s Kate Reese struck out 12 and walked two in a four-hitter as the Panthers downed host Cambria Heights (1-4).

Amanda Dodson had two hits and drove in two runs for the visitors (4-2).

Central Cambria 17 Bishop Guilfoyle 2

EBENSBURG - Central Cambria pounded out 19 hits with Lindsay Beyer going 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs as the Red Devils dispatched visiting Bishop Guilfoyle in four innings.

Kiersten Lorditch and Kacey Haluska were both 3-for-3 with Lorditch hitting a double for the Red Devils, who also got four singles from Aimee Espe (4-for-4). Taylor Swatsworth had two hits in four at bats including a triple, and drove in four runs for Central Cambria (6-1).

Johnstown 3 Westmont 1

Kassie Sabo, Amber Mangus, Alex Teeter and Lindsay Rogers were all 2-for-3 for Johnstown (3-2) in a victory over visiting Westmont.

Sabo recorded the victory on the mound with seven strikeouts and one walk and drove in two runs. Mangus scored twice and Teeter scored one and drove in another.

For Westmont (0-6), Megan Walker had an RBI double to left to score Emily Kirkstadt (single) for the Hilltoppers run.

Windber 11

Ferndale 5

Windber scored seven runs in the top of the seventh to break a 4-4 tie and earn a road victory over Ferndale.

Chloe Huston was 3-for-4, all doubles, scored two and drove in three while Erin Valinsky added two doubles in two at bats, scored twice and drove in two for the Ramblers. Brooke Schreyer had two doubles in five at bats and scored twice for Windber (2-3).

Chelsea Chobany was 3-for-4 and scored a run for the Yellow Jackets. Melanie Bremer also had three hits.

Richland 19

Bishop McCort 4

Richland junior Ella Tessari earned her first varsity victory on the mound with five strikeouts in the four-hitter as the Rams downed Bishop McCort in four innings to remain undefeated.

Alexis Dona hit a triple, a double and a single in three at bats and scored three runs for the Rams (6-0). Teammate Clarissa Snopko was 2-for-2 with a double and scored two runs while Lauren Keffer went 2-for-3 with a double and scored two runs.

For the Crimson Crushers

(0-5), Mary Woloschuk was

2-for-2 with a triple and scored a run while Lauren Stem and Sara Mangiofico each scored runs.

Somerset 14

Bedford 4

SOMERSET – Somerset overcame an early 4-0 deficit to post a 10-run victory over visiting Bedford in six innings.

Nicole Shaffer, Jaime Emert, Ashley Humbert and Kendra Custer each had two hits for the Golden Eagles. Shaffer belted a home run, a triple and drove in six runs. Emert drove in two runs, and Humbert scored three times. Custer reached base four times and scored twice.

Shade 15

Turkeyfoot Valley 0

CAIRNBROOK - Shade had 13 hits against visting Turkeyfoot Valley, including seven for extra bases, in a four-inning win.

Winning pitcher Erin Spinelli, who had six strikeouts, a walk and two hit batsmen, was 3-for-3 with a double and a triple. Kristen Corradini had a double and a triple while Emily Gibbons and Aubrey Polochak were both 2-for-2 with Gibbons smacking a double and Polochak, a triple. Teammate Kelly Shaw added a double.

Bishop Carroll 9 Forest Hills 5

CRESSON - Dylan Link was 3-for-4, Josh Barzdo went 2-for-4 and Drew McCabe and Josh King each hit triples as Bishop Carroll (7-0) remained unbeaten with a victory over Forest Hills in a game played at Mount Aloysius.

Luke Gallaher was 2-for-4 with a home run for the Rangers (1-3).

Somerset 9

Bedford 3

BEDFORD - Winning pitcher Myles Ream helped his own cause, with a hit in three at bats, scoring a run and driving in two more as visiting Somerset defeated Bedford.

Josh Beistel was 2-for-3, scored two runs and drove in one for the Golden Eagles

(4-2), who also got two runs scored from Gunnar Smith and two RBIs and a run scored from Austin Sleek.

For the Bisons (3-3), Brian Gibbons had two doubles in three at bats and drove in a run.

Richland 13

Bishop McCort 0

Winning pitcher Austin Urban struck out eight and walked one in a two hitter as Richland belted host Bishop McCort in six innings at the Point to remain unbeaten (7-0).

Urban helped his own cause going 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI for the Rams, who pounded out

13 hits.

Ryan Sylvia and Eric Montag were both 2-for-4 with Sylvia scoring a run and driving in two and Montag adding a double and a run scored. Dan Gray was 2-for-2 with an RBI while Travis Gelles went

2-for-3, scoring two and driving in two.

United 7

Homer-Center 4

HOMER CITY – John Hess pitched a complete game with seven strikeouts in Unitied’s win at Homer-Center.

Hess went 2-for-3 with a double. Matt Stewart had two hits. Sophomores Dom Chero and Adam Magalich each hit homers.

Homer-Center’s Craig Ciranni had three hits.

Laurel Valley 9 Northern Cambria 1

NEW FLORENCE – Sam Wasil tossed a five-hitter, striking out five and walking none in a win over visiting Northern Cambria.

Anthony Tutino hit a two-run homer in the second, and John Jones doubled.

Ferndale 7

Windber 6

With two outs and bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh, Ferndale’s Mike Dorchak walked to force home Tanner Kulback with the winning run against visiting Windber.

Mike Dorchak was 2-for-3 with a double and drove in two runs for the Yellow Jackets. Kulback had a double, a pair of walks and scored three runs.

Brad Ditzler was 3-for-4 with an RBI for the Ramblers.

Penn Cambria 7

Cambria Heights 4

CRESSON - Winning pitcher Jordan Fuller was 2-for-2 and scored a run while Nick Myers added a triple, scored a run and drove in another as host Penn Cambria picked up its first win, holding off a Cambria Heights rally in the seventh.

Anthony Guzic was 2-for-3, scored two and drove in another run for the Panthers (1-5), who also got a double, a run scored and an RBI from Shane Hartline along with a single, a run scored and RBI from Alex Pettenati.

For the Highlanders (0-6), Brandon Crawford was 2-for-2, drove in two runs and scored another. Caleb Vescovi was

2-for-3, Tyler Thomas went

2-for-4 and Ian Olsavsky had a hit, an RBI and scored a run.

Shade 17

Turkeyfoot Valley 2

CAIRNBROOK – Jeremy Nicholas had two hits, including a double and three RBIs, and Marcus Yuko had two hits, two RBIs and three runs in Shade’s rout of visiting Turkeyfoot in three innings.

Tyler Smith and Brett Hart each went 2-for-2. Brett Edwards struck out five in three innings.
