HOLLIDAYSBURG — Joe Dziabo scored a game-high 30 points, including a game-winning 3-pointer as time expired, to lead 10th-seeded Penn Cambria past No. 7 Bellwood-Antis 54-51 in the first round of the District 6 Class AA playoffs Monday night.
With the score tied at 51-51, Bellwood missed a field-goal attempt with 5.7 seconds remaining, and Dziabo pulled down the rebound, his 10th of the game.
After a timeout, Dziabo nailed the game-winner.
“Anytime Joe shoots the ball, I think it’s in,” said Penn Cambria coach Jim Ronan. “When he gets hot like that, that kid can just flat out shoot.”
Josh Swope added 14 points for the Panthers, who will face No. 2 seed Central Cambria in the next round.
