Four sites will host District 6 basketball playoffs

The District 6 basketball playoffs get under way Monday night with doubleheaders at four different sites including Hollidaysburg junior and senior high, Central Cambria and Richland for six area squads.

At Richland, the Conemaugh Valley boys and girls begin on Monday with the 12th-seeded girls facing No. 5 Harmony at 6 p.m. followed by the 12th-seeded boys against No. 5 Homer-Center.

At Central Cambria at 6, in Class A, the eighth-seeded Bishop Carroll girls face No. 9 Moshannon Valley, with the Bishop Carroll boys, also seeded eighth, playing No. 9 Northern Cambria in the nightcap.

The other area team that gets started Monday is the Westmont Hilltop girls, seeded eighth, playing No. 9 Central at 6 p.m. at Hollidaysburg Junior High in a Class AA showdown. In the second game at the junior high, the No. 11 Central boys square off with No. 6 Philipsburg-Osceola in Class AA.

Also, at Hollidaysburg Senior High, in Class A girls, No. 6 Belleville Mennonite will play No. 11 Blairsville, followed by the Class A boys game between No. 4 Williamsburg and No. 13 Belleville Mennonite.

On Feb. 12., four more doubleheaders at the same four sites will begin, also involving six area teams.

In a pair of Class A boys games at Richland, No. 7 Laurel Valley faces Heritage Conference rival No. 10 Penns Manor at 6 followed by No. 6 Glendale against 11th-seeded Blacklick Valley.

At Hollidaysburg Senior High, a Class AA girls matchup between No. 4 Penns Valley and No. 5 Central Cambria is set to get under way at 6 p.m. with the 12th-seeded Richland boys against No. 5 Penns Valley in the Class AA nightcap.

At Central Cambria, the 10th-seeded Westmont Hilltop boys play No. 7 Blairsville in the Class AA second game.

Prior to the Hilltoppers’ game, the No. 10 Tyrone girls will play No. 7 Marion Center in a Class AA contest at 6.

At Hollidaysburg Junior High, eighth-seeded United will play No. 9 Bellwood-Antis in a Class AA boys second game behind a Class A girls matchup between No. 10 West Branch and No. 7 Saltsburg at 6.
