Eight area high school football squads continue their quests for a state championship title this weekend with seven playing on Friday and one on Saturday.
All games are set for 7 p.m.
In a rematch of last year’s District 5 Class A title game, defending champion Windber will face Conemaugh Township, which defeated the Ramblers earlier this season.
The 2009 district championship will be at a site still to be determined.
Johnstown is once again a contender for the District 6 Class AAA championship, taking on defending champ Hollidaysburg at Altoona’s Mansion Park.
In semifinal action are the District 6 Class A and AA games.
In Class AA, the battle of the Baileys,
Part 2 will be played at Forest Hills with even higher stakes than in the earlier meeting.
The top-ranked Rangers, which won the first encounter between the two squads, entertain Richland with a berth in the title game on the line.
In Class A, top-ranked and defending champion Bishop McCort will play upstart Penns Manor at Point Stadium.
Also on Friday, District 5 Class AA champ Bedford will travel to Pittsburgh’s Cupples Stadium to take on District 8 champion Westinghouse in a PIAA subregional contest.
On Saturday, the other Class A semifinal in District 6 has Portage traveling to Bellwood-Antis
The remaining District 6 Class AA semifinal does not involve area squads, but features a pair of rivals who have already met once this season as Tyrone plays at defending district champ Central.
