High School Girls

Cambria Heights 73, Berlin 48

PATTON – Miranda Zeanchock had

16 points to lead a quartet of double-digit scorers from Cambria Heights in a victory over visiting Berlin.

Kristy Gwizdak had 14 points for the Highlanders, who also got 12 points each from Maria Pompa and Danielle Bodek.

The Mountaineers Brooke Snyder led all scorers with 30 points.

Saltsburg 63, Laurel Valley 43

SALTSBURG – Sheena Muffey scored

18 points and Sarah Prenni added 13 in a Saltsburg victory.

The Trojans also got 11 points from Trisha Gabrielson.

Brittany Hanson topped the Rams with 10 points while Julie Snyder supplied nine rebounds.

Penns Manor 60, United 43

ARMAGH – Four Penns Manor players reached double figures in scoring, topped by Rachael Reilly’s 15 points.

Autumn Mattis, Kelsey Parfitt and Krista Gillo scored 10 points apiece for the Comets (3-1).

Kyla Perry topped the Lions with

15 points and Wendi Walsh chipped in 10.

C. Township 60, Johnstown 47

Katie Reckner scored 16 points, Hayley Fockler had 13 and Lindsey Callihan supplied 10 for Conemaugh Township.

The Trojans’ Tynesha Smith topped all scorers with 30 points.

North Star 56, Westmont 35

Emily Lohr and Chelsea Danel each scored 19 points to lead North Star past host Westmont Hilltop.

Karen Schmidt added 10 points for the Cougars.

Alyssa Yewcic scored 10 for Westmont.

N. Cambria 66, Blairsville 32

NORTHERN CAMBRIA – Breanna Kochinsky scored a game-high 30 points to lead host Northern Cambria.

Ariel Rocco added 17 points and Janae Dunchack had 15 for the Colts.

Marissa Falcone provided 10 points to top the Bobcats.

Turkeyfoot 31, JCS 18

HOLLSOPPLE – Turkeyfoot outscored Johnstown Christian School 10-0 in the fourth quarter for a nonconference victory.

Kami Koscheck led the Rams with

11 points.

Kayla Conahan scored 10 of the Blue Jays’ 18 points.

Centre County Christian 37, Cambria County Christian 35

MUNDYS CORNER – Morgan Donley scored 25 points as Centre County Christian Academy rallied to beat host Cambria County Christian School.

Centre County outscored Cambria County 17-7 in the final quarter.

Natalie Sokira had 15 points for Cambria County Christian while Megan McCleester added 11.

High School Boys

Portage 57, Berlin 30

PORTAGE – Andrew Maul scored

13 points and grabbed 12 rebounds while teammate Sean Cronauer (12 points,

10 rebounds) also had a double-double in Portage’s victory.

Ryan Scoran added 12 points for the Mustangs.

Alex Will led Berlin with 13 points.

Meyersdale 87, Windber 74

WINDBER – Justin Donaldson scored 21 points to lead Meyersdale’s high-powered offense past host Windber.

Detrick Peterman (21 points), Matt Moser (20) and Ben Lohr (11) were also in double figures for the Red Raiders.

Cameron Ursino had a game-high

29 points in the loss. Brett Lucas scored

18 points and Andy Mock had 14.

Blacklick 55, Rockwood 42

NANTY GLO – Teddy Worthington led all scorers with 22 points and Victor Manda had 11 to lead host Blacklick Valley to a victory over Rockwood.

The Rockets got 14 points from Nick Foreman.

Laurel Valley 50, Saltsburg 26

NEW FLORENCE – Justin Shingler scored 19 points and grabbed five steals to lead Laurel Valley.

The Rams also got 10 points and

11 rebounds from Joey Hepner while Tyler DiPofi added 11 points.

Ferndale 69, Shanksville 49

Ryan Gaunt scored 34 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead Ferndale past visiting Shanksville.

Trevor Mattis added a dozen points and Jordan Taranto had five steals for the Yellow Jackets.

Carson Shaulis paced Shanksville with

14 points and Cullen Swank grabbed seven rebounds.

C. Township 74, Salisbury 40

DAVIDSVILLE – Kyle Zambanini scored 13 points and added eight rebounds, five assists and five steals for Conemaugh Township.

Freshman Dillon Boyer scored a game-high 21 points for the Indians (4-1).

Nick Boslet topped the Elks with

13 points while Alex Beiler had 12.

Johnstown 66, B. Guilfoyle 38

ALTOONA – Mark Watson scored

15 points and Cliff Eddins had 12 points, eight assists and five steals for Johnstown in a road victory over Bishop Guilfoyle.

Kuayshawn Thompson added 11 points for the Trojans, who also got seven points, six assists and four steals from Richard Agurs.

Cambria County Christian 67, Centre County Christian 47

MUNDYS CORNER – Canaan Hess topped the Cambria County Christian scoring with 19 points and Tyler Berkebile had 12 in a win over visiting Centre County Christian.

Joshua Maurer scored 14 points to lead the visitors.

N. Cambria 66, Blairsville 53

BLAIRSVILLE – Joe Yuhas had

22 points and 16 rebounds as Northern Cambria beat Blairsville.

Anthony Penksa also had a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds.

Dylan Dando’s 14 points led Blairsville while Scott Harsh had 11.

COLLEGE MEN

Juniata’s Berkey honored

HUNTINGDON – Juniata College’s Jeff Berkey, a Shanksville-Stonycreek graduate, has been named the Landmark Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Berkey turned in one of the top shooting performances of his career in Juniata’s lone game last week, a 75-57 setback to Washington & Jefferson College. He knocked down a career-high seven 3-pointers and finished with a season-high 24 points.
