Shade 72, Berlin 59
CAIRNBROOK – Tyler Smith and Nick Kephart had 22 points each to lift Shade on Friday night. Ryan Fyock added 12 and Ken Gibbons scored 10 for the Panthers.
Kephart also had 16 rebounds, Smith had nine and four steals, and Gibbons added eight assists and five steals.
Alex Will’s game-high 32 points led the visitors while teammate Brandon Leydig turned in 11 points.
Johnstown 72, Bedford 25
Richard Agurs had 16 points and Isaiah Haselrig scored 15 to lead Johnstown in a lopsided win over visiting Bedford.
Quayshawn Thompson had 13 rebounds and Alkwan Williams 10 for the Trojans.
Williams also had three blocks and five steals while Agurs had nine assists.
B. McCort 67, Somerset 45
SOMERSET – Bishop McCort jumped out to a 47-20 lead in the first half en route to a road victory.
Patrick O’Reilly scored 18 points for Bishop McCort while Mason del Rosario had 13 and Jerqual Wilson added a dozen.
Jeremiah Judy’s 10 points led Somerset.
North Star 78, Blacklick 35
BOSWELL – Tony Strasiser scored 23 points and teammate Jacob Fleegle had 22 to lead host North Star to a victory over Blacklick Valley.
The Cougars also got 15 points from Wade Walker while the Vikings got
12 points from Ted Worthington.
C. Cambria 62, P. Cambria 57
EBENSBURG – Joe Dziabo’s 30 points and 13 from Josh Swope paced Penn Cambria in a loss at Central Cambria.
Zack Vigneault scored 32 to lead the Red Devils.
Portage 54, C. Township 44
DAVIDSVILLE – Ryan Scoran’s
15 points led Portage while Andrew Maul had a dozen and Sean Cronauer added 11 for the Mustangs.
Maul had eight assists and Scoran five rebounds.
Michael Lysic’s 12 points and 10 rebounds led the hosts, who got 10 points from Grant Speigle.
C. Valley 70, Windber 28
WINDBER – Jimmy Lupek’s 19 points led Conemaugh Valley while Cody Kushner and Jason Preuss had 11 each and Jesse Uncapher added 11.
Brett Lucas and Cameron Ursino led the hosts with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Ferndale 95, JCS 55
HOLLSOPPLE – Six Ferndale players scored in double figures as the Yellow Jackets belted host Johnstown Christian.
Hayden Stumpo topped the Ferndale scoring with 18 points while Ryan Gaunt added 15 and Nate Davidson, 13. Trevor Mattis chipped in 12 points with Dave Horvath scoring 11 and Chad Eisenhuth, 10.
Kevin Shook, Jake Tuck and Kevin Grasser all scored in double figures for the Blue Jays with 17, 14 and 10, respectively.
Forest Hills 60, B. Guilfoyle 49
SIDMAN – Luke Gallaher scored 23 points and Tanner Thomas had a double-double for Forest Hills in a home victory over BIshop Guilfoyle
Thomas had 10 rebounds and 21 points while Gallaher dished out five assists.
Jeff Holzer scored 10 points for Bishop Guilfoyle.
Meyersdale 68, Shanksville 67
MEYERSDALE – Justin Hoover hit a free throw with 20 seconds left as Meyersdale eked out a victory over visiting Shanksville-Stonycreek.
Red Raiders’ sophomore Chuck Donaldson topped all scorers with 31 points. Detrick Peterman had 13 points and Matt Moser added 10 for Meyersdale, which also got 10 rebounds and 10 assists from Ben Lohr.
Cullen Swank topped the Vikings with 24 points.
Grace Prep 68, CCCS 39
MUNDYS CORNER – Smith Paul scored a game-high 21 points, Nick Hordav added 18 and Tyler Cohick contributed
10 for Grace Prep in a road win over Cambria County Christian.
The hosts got 13 points from Josh Paros and 10 from Canaan Hess.
GIRLS
Ligonier 57, Blairsville 36
LIGONIER – Maddy Grimm had 13 points and Emily Daughery 12 in leading Ligonier Valley.
The 10-0 Mounties are off to the best start in school history, and their four seniors - Daugherty, Julia Hollick, Alysa Derk and Amber Tutino - have scored the most points of any Ligonier girls basketball class. They now have 1,776 points.
Daugherty finished with eight assists.
Kristen Gabelt and Grimm had nine rebounds each.
Windber 60, Berlin 45
BERLIN – Jen Rasko scored 27 points, grabbed seven rebounds, handed out six assists and made 15 steals to lead Windber.
Brooke Snyder’s 21 points topped the hosts, who got 10 from Laura Etris.
Johnstown 50, Bedford 46
BEDFORD – The Johnstown girls notched their first win of the season behnd the 15-point effort of Amber Manges and 14 from Tynesha Smith.
Smith had eight rebounds while Missy Ravida gave out five assists.
B. McCort 67, Somerset 44
Bishop McCort outscored Somerset 32-17 in the middle two quarters on its way to a home victory.
Emily Basile scored a game-high 20 points for the Crimson Crushers (6-3), who also got 15 points from Jill Spisak and 14 from Kristen Woznick. Brittany Boyd grabbed 13 rebounds and Maranda McIntosh supplied 10.
Nicole Shaffer topped the Eagles scoring with 17 points while Chelsea Shaulis had 13.
C. Cambria 49, P. Cambria 41
CRESSON – Emily Wright scored 18 points and Taylor Swatsworth had 12 as Central Cambria topped Penn Cambria.
Jess Delic led the Panthers with 15 points.
P. Line 49, Laurel Valley 45
NEW FLORENCE – Sara Small and Cassie Fry led the way with 17 and
13 points, respectively, and Alli Hudson added 12 as Purchase Line earned a narrow victory in a game marred by 50 personal fouls.
Hudson had 10 rebounds and Small had seven steals.
Julie Snyder and Kyra Ludwig led Laurel Valley with 17 and 15 points, respectively. Snyder also had 14 rebounds.
Twenty-eight personal fouls were called on Purchase Line while 22 went against the hosts.
N. Cambria 59, United 27
ARMAGH - Ariel Rocco scored 28 points and Breanna Kochinsky had 18 in leading Northern Cambria.
Kyla Perry’s 14 points topped the Lions.
Salisbury42, JCS 34
SALISBURY – Host Salisbury overcame a slow start to defeat Johnstown Christian for its second win.
Lydia Hale-Cooper topped the Elks with 12 points and grabbed 14 rebounds.
Tiffany Turgeon paced the Blue Jays with eight points.
Westmont 53, Richland 35
Alyssa Yewcic had 25 points,
12 rebounds, four steals and two assists to lead Westmont to a win over visiting Richland.
Lauren Keffer’s 14 points led the Rams.
C. Township 64, Rockwood 48
ROCKWOOD – Julie Byer scored
24 points to lead Conemaugh Township to a road win.
Teammate Lindy Baer added 16 points and Katie Reckner grabbed a dozen rebounds.
Rockwood’s Emily Miller also had 24 points while Sam Emert gave the Rockets 17. Miller and Emert had 11 rebounds each while Sara Romesberg had five assists and four steals.
