Hockey showcase planned

The third annual Brad Wess Memorial Scholastic Showcase hockey game will be played on Feb. 21 at Cambria County War Memorial Arena.

Introductions will be at 7 p.m., with the face-off set for 7:15.

The Brad Wess Memorial scholarship will be presented to a local high school senior for academic excellence, community service and for providing leadership, sportsmanship and a positive attitude as a member of his school’s hockey program.

Brad Wess died in an automobile accident on Oct. 19, 2007.

He was a junior at Forest Hills High School and was a high honor student.

Wess was a member of the Forest Hills varsity hockey team and Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church. He was an organ donor.

Members of the Green team are: goaltender Nathan Kohan (Johnstown); defensemen Josh Beistel (Somerset), Dan Price (Westmont), Bryan Lopes (Somerset), Patrick Formica (Bishop McCort), Dylin Snedden (Forest Hills), Travis Gates (Conemaugh Valley); and forwards Jordan Barone (Forest Hills), Garrett Hutchinson (Richland), Bryan Scott (Bishop McCort), Bobby Zada (Conemaugh Valley), Joseph Patula (Richland), Matt Ponzurick (Westmont), Jacob Bambino (Conemaugh Valley), Oscar Holm (Somerset), Dane Domonkos (Bishop McCort), Dillon Dorian (Westmont), Gage Lohr (Ferndale)and David Balderas (Forest Hills).

Members of the Gold team are: Goaltender Shane Dunn (Richland); defensemen Zachary Boring (Conemaugh Valley), Ben Mayer (Johns-town), Anthony Cascino (Bishop McCort), Gunnar Smith (Somerset), Anthony Pioli (Bishop McCort); forward Stephen Chuckalovcak (Forest Hills), Donald Knierman (Forest Hills), Chris Arena (Westmont), Devon Jacobs (Westmont), John Groman (Ferndale), Daniel Clementi (Somerset), Mason Stachowski (Johnstown), Nicholas Pappas (Bishop McCort), Anthony Raco (Richland), Brennan Partsch (Forest Hills), Zachary Barto (Bishop McCort), Nathan Vivis (Conemaugh Valley) and Dustin Wirick (Forest Hills).

Green team coaches include Ferndale’s Brian Riffle, Johnstown’s Steve Barto, Bishop McCort’s Randy James, Richland’s J.J. Vasilko and Westmont’s Ryan Cowan. Westmont’s Art McQuillan is the Green manager.

Gold team coaches include Johnstown’s Sean McTighe, Somerset’s Matt Cavrak, Bishop McCort’s John Bradley, Forest

Hills’ Chad Davis and Conemaugh Valley’s Scott Boring. Georgia Stenger is the Gold manager.
