JOHNSTOWN —
Shaquille McCord, 18, of Solomon Homes, has been taken into custody. He was wanted for attempted criminal homicide for a shooting Thursday night.
City police said McCord shot 20-year old Jeremiah Haselrig at 9:46 p.m. in the 100 block of Messenger Street.
Haselrig suffered gunshot wounds to the torso and arms and was taken to Memorial Medical Center where he underwent emergency surgery, police said.
A relative said she heard several gunshots and then heard heavy footsteps on the stairs and then heard the front outer door slam.
Police found spent shell casings, slugs and blood inside the victim’s apartment.
Haselrig was conscious when police found him. He identified McCord as the man who shot him.
McCord was found this afternoon in the 700 block of Sherman Street, police Capt. Andrew Frear said.
McCord is also being charged with conspiracy to commit criminal homicide, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and carrying a firearm without a license.
He is expected to be arraigned today.
