INDIANA —
State police in Indiana are looking for whoever stole a 2003 Kenworth truck loaded with aluminum concrete forms.
Investigators said the vehicle has since been recovered, minus nearly 3 tons of its load.
According to a police report, the theft happened either Monday or Tuesday at the Tri-Star parking lot on Route 22 near Blairsville. Police said the perpetrators also attempted to steal a second truck, a 1994 Mack, also loaded with the forms.
The stolen truck and the 250 forms it carried were valued at $420,000, but, on Wednesday, the vehicle was recovered in Blairsville. According to Trooper Jason Morgan, 55 of the aluminum forms remain missing.
“Each form weighs 100 pounds,” he said. “They were valued at 350 each.”
Morgan said the actors would have to use a “heavy duty truck” to move the stolen goods.
“It was definitely planned out.”
The trooper said he believed the thieves eyed the aluminum for its scrap value, noting its a crime that remains on the rise.
“It’s a huge problem,” he said.
