JOHNSTOWN —
With a combined effort from Dylan Davy and Cody Day, the Zanesville Junior Pioneers survived for another day with a 5-1 win over Chicago South Shore Tuesday morning at Point Stadium.
Davy pitched 7 1/3 innings while Day pitched the remaining 1 2/3 in the non-save situation. Zanesville broke a 1-all tie in the third with a pair of runs then added two more runs in the later innings against South Shore starter Shaun Johnson, who pitched all nine innings for the Chicago squad.
Day collected two of Zanesville’s seven hits with Luis Meija and Chris Buckey each contributing a run batted in. Alex Bembenek collected two doubles and drove in South Shore’s lone run.
