Baby boy born on Pa. Turnpike during rush hour

LAFAYETTE HILL — Mom was expecting but she probably never expected this.

Police in suburban Philadelphia say a woman gave birth to a full-term baby boy on the Pennsylvania Turnpike during Thursday morning’s rush hour.

State police say the baby’s parents were heading to the hospital when they pulled over at mile marker 336.7 and called for help.

Dispatchers say the father delivered the baby in the front seat of the Toyota Prius.

Medics transported mom and baby to a nearby hospital for evaluation.
