Driver trapped in Bedford Street wreck

JOHNSTOWN — Johnstown firefighters and ambulance crews worked for nearly an hour to free the driver of a car that crashed on Bedford Street this afternoon.

Police say a woman driving a Plymouth Neon was traveling west on Bedford Street when the car struck another westbound vehicle just after 4 p.m. today.

Her car then left the roadway and rolled over, damaging a home in the Walnut Grove section of the city near the Route 56 Dale Exit interesection.

A five-year-old child in her car appeared to escape serious injury, police said. The other vehicle was not severerly damaged.

The driver of the Neon was taken to Memorial Medical Center.
