Agent: O’Brien staying at PSU
STATE COLLEGE – Bill O’Brien is staying at Penn State.
O’Brien’s agent, Joseph Linta, said Thursday night that the Nittany Lions’ head coach garnered interest from several NFL teams for vacant jobs at the next level.
But Linta said the “heartstrings” of O’Brien’s experience from Penn State’s 8-4 season in his first year outweighed the potentially big raise he could have received as an NFL head coach. He said O’Brien made the decision to stay at Penn State and not move forward with potential NFL opportunities Thursday.
O’Brien has been lauded for guiding Penn State to a successful season following strict NCAA sanctions on Penn State for the Jerry Sandusky
child sex abuse scandal.

Penn State men down Wisconsin
MADISON, Wis. – Ryan Evans scored 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds as Wisconsin held off Penn State 60-51 Thursday night in the Big Ten Conference opener for both teams.
Penn State (8-5, 0-1 Big Ten) trailed 50-49 with under 3 minutes left.
But the Badgers (10-4, 1-0) finished the game on an 11-2 run, finally finding their shooting touch from the free-throw line. They hit just 9 of their first 20 from the line but converted 4 of 6 in the final minutes.
Ben Brust and Jared Berggren also scored 13 points apiece for Wisconsin.
Jermaine Marshall scored 19 points for Penn State, while D.J. Newbill added 12.
UPJ women beat Shepherd
Kaitlynn Fratz scored a game-high 23 points to help Pitt-Johnstown hold off visiting Shepherd 70-67 at the UPJ Sports Center.
Pitt-Johnstown (4-5) also received a double-double from Nicole Carman, who scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Rachel Johnson’s 20 points paced the visiting Rams, who also carded 12 points from Alex Weakland and 10 points from Gabby Flinchum.
Rams overcome Mountain Cats
Chad Moore netted 31 points and Shepherd took home a 92-84 conference win over Pitt-Johnstown at the UPJ Sports Center.
Moore also led the Rams with 11 rebounds and was joined by Morgan McDonald in registering a double-double. McDonald scored 12 points and
grabbed 10 boards. Austin Cunningham scored 16 points and Brantley Osborne 11 in the win.
The Mountain Cats’ Andrew Cressler scored 28 points and collected 12 rebounds while Jordan Miller added 23 points. Nick Novak tallied 19
points for the hosts.
St. Francis men get first victory
LORETTO – Earl Brown grabbed a career-high 25 rebounds and scored 16 points as St. Francis pulled away from a 27-all halftime tie to beat
Central Connecticut State 67-60 for its first victory of the season in the Northeast Conference opener for both teams.
Umar Shannon led the Red Flash (1-11) in scoring with 19 points and had eight assists. Ronnie Drinnon and Dominique Major added 12 points
apiece.
Kyle Vinales scored 23 points for CCSU (4-8), and Matt Hunter had 18 points and 10 rebounds.
St. Francis won the rebound battle 43-33.
Brown scored the first six points of the second half to lift the Red Flash to a 33-27 lead 3:13 in.

Auditor: Payments take heavy toll on turnpike
