Two drug suspects charged

By SANDRA K. REABUCK
The Tribune-Democrat

EBENSBURG A Wilmore man and his buddy allegedly had more than $12,000 worth of cocaine when they were arrested by Amtrak police as they boarded a train in Philadelphia headed for Cambria County, authorities say.

District Attorney Patrick Kiniry said Friday that the arrests culminated an investigation that began in September after the Cambria County Drug Task Force received tips about the two bringing in drugs.

The suspects were identified as Alfred Joel Noble, 27, of the 100 block of Shaft Road, Wilmore, and Barry Joe Moyer, 24, of Oakford, Bucks County.

They were arrested Tuesday without incident by the railroad police at the 30th Street Train Station in Philadelphia, Kiniry said.

The suspects allegedly possessed both crack cocaine and powder cocaine along with a quantity of marijuana and PCP, the district attorney said.

According to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, PCP is phencyclidine, a hallucinogenic also known as “angel dust.”

“Many believe it to be one of the most dangerous drugs of abuse,” the DEA’s Web site states.

Kevin Price, county drug task-force coordinator, said the defendants were believed to be main dealers in Portage and nearby areas.

Amtrak police filed charges of simple possession and possession with the intent to deliver drugs against both men in Philadelphia County. Further details of their arraignment were not available Friday.

“We believe they were making trips by train to Philadelphia once or twice a month to obtain cocaine, marijuana and PCP and bring it back here,” Price said at the courthouse.
