Bedford County woman killed in one-vehicle accident

BEDFORD — A New Paris woman was killed Tuesday in a one-vehicle accident.

According to state police in Bedford, Jessica Hope Cornell, 23, was behind the wheel and traveling south on Egolf Road in Colerain Township when she lost control of the vehicle. Police said the vehicle slid sideways off the shoulder of the highway and up and embankment. It then became airborne, struck a tree on the driver’s side and came to rest partially in the Bedford Sportsman Club Lake.

The accident was reported shortly before 5:30 p.m.

Police were assisted at the scene by Bedford Volunteer Fire Company.
