BELSANO — Cambria County’s Duman Lake Park will host a car-truck show along with arts and crafts displays Sunday.
The event is part of the county’s ongoing efforts to increase use of the park facilities and increase revenues.
The Show ’N Shine Auto and Truck Show/Arts and Crafts Extravaganza is planned as an annual event at the 70-acre park, which adjoins a 19-acre lake owned by the state Fish and Boat Commission.
It’s located off Route 271 north of Belsano on the western side of the county.
“It’s a fun place for families. It has a family atmosphere and is a great place to go and have fun,” county Commissioner Milan Gjurich said.
The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is expected to attract scores of vehicles, 70 arts and crafts vendors and seven food vendors, said Fred R. Smith, the county’s operations manager.
The park’s food concession stand will feature Philly cheesesteak sandwiches made by Chris Masci, the park director and an experienced cook.
A total of 93 trophies will be awarded in the car-truck show, which will feature 30 classes such as antique, Camaro and Mustang.
Starting at 2 p.m., there will be a puppet show by Masters Puppets of Johnstown and appearances by the Classic Clowns.
The day’s activities will include hayrides and train rides on the park’s own miniature train.
The Edge radio station, WWGE-AM in Loretto, will broadcast live from noon to 2 p.m.
Tickets to several sports events and amusement parks will be given away, Gjurich said.
Duman Lake Park’s facilities include 14 picnic pavilions, several ballfields, an exercise trail and six RV camper pads.
The fish commission regularly stocks the lake for public fishing. A Family Fishing Day is planned Sept. 13.
The park’s operating budget this year is $181,140, with revenues projected at $32,500, said Mike Gelles, the county’s chief clerk and finance director.
