Arrest warrant issued in Somerset County homicide

SOMERSET — The human remains found in Somerset County are those of a teenager who went missing in September, according to state police, and an arrest warrant has been issued in her death.

During a news conference in Somerset, which is currently under way, it was revealed that Justine Marie Jackson's death has been ruled criminal homicide by strangulation.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Jonathan William Beal, 23, of Meyersdale. State police obtained the arrest warrant for Beal at the office of District Judge Douglas Bell in Meyersdale.

Beal remains at large and police are looking for him. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact state police in Somerset at (814) 445-4104.

The district attorney said that anyone harboring him would be charged.

Police have charged Beal with criminal homicide, aggravated assault and abuse of a corpse, according to online court dockets. The offense date was listed as Sept. 14, the date when the missing girl was last seen.
