One held, another sought in Family Dollar robbery

JOHNSTOWN — One man is in custody and a second is being sought after the pair robbed the Family Dollar store in Dale Borough and threatened to shoot the clerks, authorities said.

Dale police said two black males with faces covered by bandannas entered the store at 719 Bedford St. at 9 p.m Monday. They displayed handguns and demanded money.

One of the robbers “told two clerks they had 30 seconds to to give them the money or they would shoot them and began to count down from 30,” police said in a criminal complaint.

The clerks placed $978.26 in a Family Dollar bag. The two then fled with the money and ID taken from one of the clerks.

One robber then told the clerk “I know where you live and if you call the cops I will come there and kill you,” police said.

Police found one alleged robber hiding nearby. Nathaniel Cortez Morris, 24, of Solomon Homes, was found with the loaded 9mm pistol, police said.

He was charged with robbery, criminal conspiracy to commit robbery, aggravated assault and related charges.

Morris was arraigned Monday by on-call District Judge Max Pavlovich of Richland Township and sent to the Cambria County Prison after failing to post 10 percent of $250,000 bond.

Police are looking for a second suspect known as “G.”
