An Altoona area man has been charged in several Patton area burglaries, state police said.
Joshua David Holliday, 23, was arrested on a warrant stemming from break-ins at Glendale Lake Road and Clearfield Township residences, police added.
Investigators said he was taken into custody at 10:50 a.m. Sunday by state police in Ebensburg.
He was lodged in Cambria County Prison.
Mom charged after baby found in car
EBENSBURG – A Cresson woman was charged with recklessly endangering another person Saturday after she left her 8-month-old baby in a parked car for 45 minutes, police said.
Kayla Ehrenfeld, 24, was arrested after witnesses spotted the infant in a parking lot near Shoe Show in Cambria Township, state police in Ebensburg said.
Ehrenfeld exited the store when police arrived “and related that she forgot that she had the baby and thought (the child) was with its father,” Trooper Matthew Evans wrote in a news release.
The Cresson woman was arraigned by District Judge Rick Varner and released on $20,000 unsecured bond.
Students to present work at UPJ forum
Pitt-Johnstown is hosting the annual Symposium for Promotion of Academic and Creative Enquiry – SPACE – from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Living-Learning Center on the Pitt-Johnstown campus.
The event is open to the public.
SPACE provides a forum for undergraduate students to present their work in a variety of disciplines.
This year more than 100 presentations and more than 150 students will participate.
Presentations of class assignments, internships and senior projects in the form of posters or talks will give each student the opportunity to explain his/her project and answer questions from the audience.
Students will present on subjects as diverse as mapping of social issues, emotions in music and stream ecology.
The event is being sponsored by Conemaugh Health System and a Phi Kappa Phi Promotion of Excellence grant.

PennDOT briefings will be held in area
PennDOT will hold its annual transportation outreach meetings for residents in Bedford, Cambria and Somerset counties.
District 9 staff members will present brief overviews of the construction schedules for 2012 and look ahead to major projects on the Transportation Improvement Program.
From 9 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, a meeting will be held at Breezewood fire hall at 150 Municipal Road.
On April 17, a meeting will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Somerset Township Building, 2209 N. Center Ave., and from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the Ebensburg Center’s Renaissance Room.

Penn State Altoona to host gay pride event
ALTOONA – Keystone Alliance/Gaylife Newsletter will present its second annual Altoona Gay Pride Celebration from 8 to 11 p.m. April 20 at Adler Hall on the campus of Penn State Altoona.
